I word vomited this out on my Discord (y’all should join :P) at 2am but I suppose y’all can have it too~
Thinking about an AU cross between DC and Marvel where Emma does get with Cale (one night stand or otherwise) and learns about Isadore
And maybe they’re on opposite sides of the fight, maybe Cale is causing problems for the heroes and Emma is the one in charge of heading her off, but Emma just cannot look at Veronica the same way because all she sees is herself grieving over the loss of her students, over the loss of Sophie and Esme and Sharon
Veronica lost her daughter, and Emma understands the pain of that all too well
So, when she does manage to meet Izzy on Themyscira, Emma quietly takes a scan of her mind, she logs it into a stolen Cerebro helmet, and she doesn’t say a word
And when Izzy falls in battle to an unknown assailant while Themyscira is attacked, Emma turns to the Five with a quiet, psychic command. Her power on Krakoa’s council can move mountains, but this time it only returns a young girl to life unbeknownst to anyone else, a young girl whose soul is made whole once more, and whose traces are subsequently wiped from the minds of Emma’s accomplices whom she leaves in a psychic stupor while she makes her escape
Emma appears on Cale’s doorstep with a girl in tow, not knowing what she’s doing, but knowing it’s the right thing to do. She’s walking straight into the lion’s den, into her enemies’ hands, but she’s made it this far, done this much, so why stop?
When Veronica and her guards surround her, Emma surrenders. Instead of fighting, she simply reveals Izzy to Cale, who freezes for a moment at the sight before rushing forward to embrace her daughter
Emma watches this happen, forced onto her knees by a guard and with the tip of a gun pressed against the back of her head. She watches as the two cling onto one another, finally reunited after years separated after Izzy’s soul was taken and she was forced to remain on Themyscira
When Veronica’s tears have finally dried, she turns to Emma and demands answers. Is Isadore okay? What happened? Why would Emma do this? How did she do this?
But Emma doesn’t really have a response. Why did she help her enemy? Why did she break mutant law for a woman trying to kill her? Why is she here?
And then her eyes fall onto Isadore in her mother’s arms, and Emma simply tells Cale that she understands. That she’s a mother too.
Veronica stares at her for a long time, quiet. The guards begin trying to haul Emma away, but Cale stops them. She lets Emma go, knowing that when Lex and her other allies find out, they’ll berate her for letting such a major player slip from her grasp, but she doesn’t care
So, Emma stands, dusts herself off, and turns to leave, before Veronica reaches out and grabs her arm. Emma stops, turns, and inhales sharply as she feels Veronica’s arms wrapping themselves around her.
Cale hugs her, tight, face buried against her neck, and she stays like that without a word for a moment. Then, peeling back, the other woman quietly whispers her gratitude and kisses Emma on the cheek. Before Emma can respond, Veronica, Isadore, and her men disappear back inside
They don’t talk about this when they meet again on the battlefield, and when word comes out that Izzy is alive and whole, no one understands how. There is an egg unaccounted for at the Arbor Magna, but no one knows why. No one connects the dots, there’s too much happening in the world right now, and Emma doesn’t say a word, just smiles
She hugs her own daughters a little tighter that night, and when she’s being swatted at by a huffy Celeste, Emma just shakes her head fondly and kisses the fussing girl on the forehead
