I directed this video for The Shondes' new single, "On Your Side". Off their latest album, The Garden.
Small Talk DP Jeanette Sears shot this as well, with additional camera work by ST vets Chris Montgomery and Frank Huang (who also edited). ST AD Heidi Mueller performed misc. feats of awesome as well. Shout out to ST actor/grip/etc Ian Bibby and composer Shawn Setaro as well for last minute crucial feedback. It was a Small Talk reunion, basically.
In keeping with the 80's Bruce Springsteen video inspiration, the exteriors were shot in beautiful New Jersey, Interiors at the legendary Phase One in Washington, DC.
Hope you enjoy.
i feel special
Louisa Rachel Solomon of The Shondes added me on facebook. Ok she has like almost 4000 friends, but I still feel cool.
CALL FOR EXTRAS: Be in the Shondes' music video!
On Sunday, August 28, the Shondes will be shooting our first official music video from our new album Searchlights — and we want YOU to be a part of it. We're looking for a group of excited Shondes fans to be the audience at a rooftop concert. Invite your friends! Be among the very first to hear the new single "Give Me What You've Got" (admittedly, over and over again...)! Be a part of Shondes history!
We'll be shooting during the daytime on Sunday, August 28. We'll need you to stick around for a few hours at our Brooklyn (Prospect Heights) rooftop location, from 1pm to sundown (about 7:30pm) at the most. Snacks, water, sunscreen and shade will be provided — and, once the video has been cut together, you'll be among the very first to see it with a sneak preview link!
If you're camera-shy but still want to be a part of our video, we could absolutely still use your help on August 28. If you have experience in video production or are simply up for lending a hand where it's needed, let us know! We're looking for folks to help with carrying and setting up equipment, keeping food and water stocked, safety and first aid, and puppetry (yes, puppetry!), among other necessary labors.
If you're interested, contact our videographer Emily Millay Haddad directly at [email protected], facebook.com/circlesoffire or 347-987-1278 for more details.
We're so excited to be doing this, and hope you can help us make it happen!
xo, The Shondes
This is cross-posted from the band's Note on Facebook -- you can check it and respond there, too.
I've been shooting live concert videos with The Shondes for the last few years (see my YouTube and the band's YouTube for some of that work), and I'm so excited to be able to take the videography to a new level with the band. If you're in New York and want to come rock out with us for the shoot on Sunday, August 28, drop me a line. It's gonna be rad.
