Yesterday I shot at the Windsor @ Windsor tournament, and finally after 3 years shooting in the highly competitive category of Gents Recurve I have finished with a medal! It may be a 4th place bronze, but it marks what I hope to be the start of more as I continue to train and compete and shows that what I’ve been doing so far has been in the right direction.
For those not British, a Windsor round is 3 doz at 60, 50 and 40 yards, shooting a 122cm face with 5 zone scoring (gold = 9, red = 7, blue = 5….).
Every shoot is also a learning experience, none more so that this one. Up until now all my shoots have been in the dry (luckily some would say) and my inexperience of shooting in the wet (torrential rain) meant I didn’t adjust enough for the slower arrow flight. It cost 10 points in total as arrows dropped into the blue ring more that once until my sight was adjust properly for the gold. Though I’m not disappointed by this, more I’m encouraged going forwards.
