I am on a college campus and ive been borrowing a bit from a local c<s over the course of a couple months, and im suddenly really anxious they're gonna show up at my door or something. does c<s operate like that? should I be scared?

it's good to know the risks, but you don't need to be paranoid - they are very, very unlikely to follow or track you. from what i know they straight up aren't allowed to. before i got caught i would roleplay massive hauls from c<s and w@lgreens. you should be fine, but i recommend wearing a mask anyhow.

i saw your l1fting advice and i also saw that you've since quit. how did you stop? i'm starting to get more and more impulsive about doing it for the love of the heist rather than just saving money. i'm worried about going too far and getting caught, especially because i'm studying to work in childcare and a charge could ruin my prospects.

do you have any tips for seasoned l1fters who want to stop or at least pull in the reins?

To be honest? I quit cus I had to. I miss it a lot but I'm already a legal adult, so the consequences don't get much realer for me.

I went to jail. I'm a mentally ill, disabled, trans person. Jail was not fun!! Jail sucked!! I was there for a little under 24 hours, and it! was! bad! i quit because i absolutely cannot go back to jail. When I was arrested, I was doing cooking lessons for kids and my employer had to let me go because of that arrest.

When I got caught the first time, I wanted to stop but couldn't because I had an addiction to shoplifting. It's so easy to get addicted to the rush of getting away with it, especially as a "good kid" adrenaline junkie. When I got caught the second time I had to take a really hard look at what I was doing, why, and the risks I was taking.

Please please please do not make getting caught what retires you. Do it for yourself, don't let the law do it for you.

Some tips? If you have a psychiatrist, talk to them. Be honest. I told my psych that I was struggling with not relapsing shoplifting since I got arrested, and she put me on a medication which helps me manage my urges - Naltrexone is the name of it, I recommend asking your psychiatrist or provider about it. I take 50 mgs and it works.

Think about what you're planning to lift. Why do you need it? Is it worth going to jail for?

I got to a point in my reckless lifting where I was just grabbing whatever I could and leaving. Soooo many five below runs with stuff that I ended up throwing away at the end of the year, and I fucking hate consumerism!! Don't be me, learn from my mistakes!!

it's been a while since i've gone to m1cheals since i'm 'retired' from lifting, but the sticker tags either take em off or keep walking. as far as the hard tags go... never dealt with those so i'm not sure.

from what i know about the sticker tags, they work by maintaining a closed loop. If you peel them off and interrupt the loop, they shouldn't work any more, but i've also just... blocked the sticker with my hand and been fine, so ymmv.

May I ask about the specifics of getting caught at w4lmart? If so, can I ask here or is that a DMs-only question? I'm compiling a document that includes info about different stores :3

You can totally dm me, i'm pretty open about it!

basically, i did stupid shit while doing stupid shit. if you got caught at a chain before, never ever lift from that chain again if you can help it. if you ABSOLUTELY MUST, wear a MASK and ONLY lift necessities. I got cocky, got sloppy, got caught, and spent the night in jail because of it.

your number one rule for lifting and generally any illegal activity is that if you are doing stupid shit (ie illegal stuff), then don't do stupid shit on top. If you have weed or other stuff you aren't supposed to have in the car, don't speed. if you're trespassing in a chain you got caught in before, don't get cocky, don't be obvious, don't draw attention and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS mask. From what I know, W@lmart has not only loss prevention (big blue cars with bright yellow lights which WILL block you in), but facial recognition. When they take you in the back, they'll take a photo of your face and book it into their system.
