As thin snowflakes landed on the windows, she felt lucky to be sitting inside. The smell of gingerbread and christmas laid all over the small apartment that was covered in red, green and white details. Fairy light were hanging over their couch, and she was full on decorating the rest of the livingroom. She hummed quietly along to the music and listened to the faint sound of the jinglebells in the back of it. The smile that clad her lips was replaced with a grin as she reached into the cardboard box again. Something soft touched her hand, and with her fingertips she was able to make out a name. Slowly, she pulled the contents out to discover two stockings. Their stockings. Two names stiched carefully onto two bright red stockings. It stung in her heart only from looking at it, but still, a small smile parted her dry lips. Gently she hung them up under the large tv, on their usual spot, but somehow it still looked empty. She shook her head, still with a foolish smile on her face.
”It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? But even after everything, my heart still beats for you, my love”
And so, she finished decorating their apartment. It was his favorite holiday, and she remembered how excited he got during the christmas times. Waking up at five am on christmas morning, almost jumping up and down like a child. The matching pajamas with small reindeers on them that he would forcee her to wear and the way he would place mistletoes everywhere just so he could have a reason to kiss her.
And her heart beat only for him, and his, his did not beat at all.
