A Sareena drabble
What if something happened to Ashrah as she became more human than demon? A very rough piece but it's out of my system at least so yay.
If Sareena was to be known as the Wailing Death, the demon that stole life as it slept, then so be it.
She cut them down in their sleep, slitting their throats so quickly their eyes would open and then they would be dead. If it was cowards that murdered those in their sleep, Sareena didn’t care. This is what demons were known for, weren’t they? The creatures that stole souls from their sleeping bodies? Monsters that would only come out at night, when their prey was defenseless?
Sareena didn’t care. They threw their lot in with Bi-Han—these Lin Kuei initiates and officiates were just as guilty as he was.
And what was she but a simple demon?
The sickles in her hands dripped with blood, splattering the floor and the walls as she ran down the hall to her mark. Now that everyone in the manor but her main target was dead, she let out a screech.
She threw herself through the door, sending splinters into the dark room.
He sat up, bleary eyed but his body was already moving in response to the unexpected danger.
There was shriek, more human, and something collided with her, sending her out of the room and through the wall.
Sareena kicked the feral creature off her. She leveled her gaze at Frost. Behind Frost, Sareena could see movement. Bi-Han wasn’t going to get away.
She let out a screech—one that echoed and came deep from her, the rage and fear and sorrow that gave her strength shook the walls of the manor. Even Frost blanched, eyes wide with a fear she had never felt before.
That was all Sareena needed. She threw herself with an inhuman fury at Frost. Before Frost could react, Sareena had her hands on her and there was a sickening crack. She threw the writhing, screaming human to the side, her femur snapped at an unnatural angle.
Bi-Han flew out from the shadows of his room, fists of ice—ice no match for Sareena’s burning hate. The image of Ashrah in a hospital bed, kept alive by the unnatural tubes and chemicals meant for Humans…
“You monster!” Sareena screamed at Bi-Han, swinging wildly at him, growing more and more enraged with every duck and weave. It didn’t matter if it wasn’t he who hurt Ashrah, who brought her sister to death’s door, her sister who still wasn’t pure enough to enter Heaven, but pure enough to die like a pathetic human.
Bi-Han grabbed her wrist and twisted it.
Sareena let out another screech, this one deeper and full of malice.
Bi-Han loosened his grip and slid back and away, his senses regaining just enough.
“You sacrificed one brother to a demon and plan to murder the other! If your own blood is so useless, then I’ll splatter the mud with it!” Sareena could feel her skin begin to burn. “I’ll kill you wear you stand, you ungrateful monster!”
She had already lost Kia and Jataaka. Now she was going to lose Ashrah. It didn’t matter if Tomáš and Kuai Liang would hate her for killing their brother. All that mattered to her was neither would have to live with the pain of being alone, to live with the pain of knowing their only remaining brother was a killer.
To Sareena, the only options were each other without Bi-Han, or to die with the blood of Bi-Han on the survivor’s hands. Regardless, she would become what she had always been told she was—a demon, a lowly creature, but she would at least own it. To be hated and reviled was nothing because all that she loved was gone. But if it was to ensure nobody else suffered as deeply as she did, then Sareena felt she could accept her fate.
