Ode to the Short Term
In this blog I am exploring
1) the rational (or lack thereof) that led me to shoot myself in the foot in the short-term over most of the last decade,
2) rebuilding an approach to reality that meets my needs, and
3) what my needs are.
MIOPE is Spanish for Short-Term. This is my ode to short-term thinking.
It is equally tongue-in-cheek as it is a sincere plea for help to no one in particular. It might also be called Martyr, except that my story isn't over.
I'm exploring my bitterness in realizing the depths to which I prioritized the long-term at the expense of the short-term.
From 2007-2014, I gave everything I had emotionally, spiritually, financially, and physically to long-term thinking. For the last year since the shit hit the fan, I've been rebuilding my approach to reality.
Why the f*^# would I do this? Well, it had a lot to do with a sense of moral obligation to doing "the right thing" to repair the injustices of ecological degradation, climate change, and social injustice.
and much much more.
MIOPE is anonymous to remind me to write from my courage and vulnerability.
