Bu cumartesi İstanbul'da yepyeni bir yer keşfettik : Tektekçi! Tektekçi bir shot bar, menüsünü alıyorsunuz içinde çeşit çeşit shotlar var. Tutucular ve ben bildiğim shottan başkasını içmem diyenler için votka, tekila shot gibi alışılmış içkiler var. Benim gibi ne olsa denerimciler için ise kendi özel tarifleriyle hazırladıkları kokteyl shotları muazzam! Arkalı önlü menünün önündeki standart tatlardan tam favorim "Jagermeister" i seçmiştim ki... Menünün arkasındaki karar vermek için üzerinde baya bir çalışmak gerektiren özel shotları gördüm. İçkiler yumuşak, orta, sert olarak ayrılmış. Ulaşmak istediğiniz sarhoşluk mertebesine göre seçiminizi yapıp, Nemo, Beberuhi, Cyclone gibi türlü çeşit isimli shotlardan birini seçiyorsunuz. Sonra yapmanız gereken tek şey içkiyi bir yudumda kafanıza dikmek :)

Fiyatlar çok yüksek değil, üstelik her seferinde farklı bir shot deneyebilirsiniz. Küçük bir bar ama müzik çok iyi, gecenin başında giderseniz sizi hem içkileri hem ortamıyla hava sokuyor. Aslında oradan çıkıp başka bir yere gitmeniz çok zor oluyor ama... Ben tüm gece aynı yerde kalamam diyorsanız Tektekçi final destination'a ulaşmadan önce kesinlikle uğranıp tariflerinin tadına bakılması gereken bir yer!

Barın sahibi Berti Palambo, kısa sürede tarif sayılarının 300'ü bulacağını iddia ediyor. Ne diyelim, her haftasonu bir uğrayıp menüde ne değişiklik var bence kontrol edilir!

Dry Bean Saloon

Today I went to one of College Station's treasures. Most of College Station TX is organized along endless stripmall, but there is one region just north of the University campus that is more of a classical city centre.

In this centre, we find the bar Dry Bean Saloon. A shot bar that makes most of its business from students stopping by on their way to and from other venues, it comes with rustic deep Texas decor reminiscent much of a Lucky Luke cartoon, and with bartenders who take their craft deeply serious.

While there, I ended up having 10 shots, and a few enlightening and stimulating shots — both with Texas A&M engineering undergraduates passing through and with the bartender tending my bar.

I will say this immediately: carefully crafted shots are gorgeous and tasty. I was particularly impressed by shots like Brainstem and Road Rage, where a creamy layer on top is penetrated by the much heavier grenadine syrup to pull the liquor down into a clear bottom layer.

I am, as I have already mentioned, a bit of a sweet tooth. I really enjoy most anything that builds on the combination of Bailey's and Kahlua. The Brainstem, using Bailey's for the cream liquor, was delicious, while the Road Rage, with a Tequila base and some added tart fruit juices was less convincing, though no less beautiful in presentation.

The real hit of the evening — as far as I am concerned — however was a shot I was explicitly advised both by the bartender and the guy next to me to skip. Usually brought out for hen parties, the Blowjob, much like the Deep Throat, is mostly designed to embarrass a bride-to-be. The Blowjob is composed out of Bailey's and Kahlua, and topped with whipped cream — while the Deep Throat is Bailey's and Vodka, topped with whipped cream. Both are given with the instruction to drink without using your hands, causing you to fellate a falloidal shot glass topped with sperm-reminiscent whipped cream.

Well … I've never been one to feel my masculinity threatened by anything, and so, against better advise, I went at the Blowjob. And I am glad I did — it tasted utterly delicious; the way whipped cream, Bailey's and Kahlua would. I am too secure in my masculinity and sexuality to let such things as a simulated blowjob keep me from a good drink.
