I’m with you, Theo had said.
His voice, his scent, his hand, all carved into him.
It’s not going away this time.
Scott sucks in a shallow breath, tears trapped in his lashes. The mirror reflects in his eyes, from the water still glistening on his skin.
Scott stares at his reflection.
Mom stores the extra bandages in the cabinet behind it.
He drags the back of his hand across his eyes and releases the breath he’d been holding, chest throbbing weakly.
If he can’t get rid of Theo’s presence, he can hide it.
He reaches for a towel and wraps it around himself, low at the hips to mitigate the stains, before stumbling towards the sink.
No one else needs to know. He can cover it up, bury it deep beneath cloth and tape and bandages, where no one else can see. Where no one else will have to think about it.
Not even him.
this is from part 5 of my 5+1 scott-centric fic, blood in the water!
While Scott's not doing so great in any of the segments thus far, part 5 is where everything just really sinks to rock bottom. He's been tormented by proof that vanishes before he can really get a grip on it, and now here, the proof finally stays—and yet it's just as awful and isolating as before! And then there are a lot of echoes of past experiences, but my personal favourite is the bloody handprints moving from the wall into his actual chest in this snip—there's no escape, even with distance, this time. 😭
I'm also just always here for 5a fallout in all its forms. It's such a devastating, violating thing, and yet it's swept under the rug—or the shirt—so completely, which at least for me made a nice transition to him hiding his hurts so much he forgets about them in the next section.
This is also a fun segue stylistically speaking because this part stops right before the actual scene in 5x11, leading us nicely into the +1, which is an expansion of a shower sequence we actually saw in 6x18.

Post-Death, when the blood won't stop (5x11)

“Barry!”
Barry watches as his lover landing before him, a big smile on his face, the one that makes girls (and himself) swoon. Before Hal’s uniform can disappear like it’s used to, Barry launches at him, hugging him tightly, enough to knock the air out of the Green Lantern.
“What’s wrong babe?” Hal laughs breathlessly, “It’s like it’s been forever since you saw me.”
“We just saw each other this morning, genius,” Barry mumbles into Hal’s shoulder, “I just feel like give you a hug.”
Hal chuckles, before wrapping his arms around the speedster. Closing his eyes, Hal breaths in deeply, inhales his lover’s smell before opening his mouth again.
“How many times, Barr?”
And he immediately feels Barry stiffening in his arms, “What are you talking about?”
“How many times have I died?”
