dexter and brian grow up insanely attached. they are so codependent it hurts. their bond is so close they act more like creepy twins than siblings.
so when brian leaves for college it takes a toll on dexter, although he doesn’t show it. brian is gone for close to a decade (in this au brian still becomes a prosthetics maker).
when brian comes back home (at this point it’s like their s1 ages) dexter feels complete again. he loves debra, don’t get him wrong, but there is a certain bond he has with brian that cannot be replicated.
as brian is back he stays with dexter, and dexter finds himself noticing brian in a way he hadn’t before. how he views brian begins to change and dexter knows his feelings aren’t normal based on what society has told him and what he’s observed.
a lot of tension starts to grow within dexter, sexual and romantic, and every time he’s near brian he feels like he’s going insane. it’s his first time seeing brian since harrys funeral. dexter thinks that brian matured really well in that time span. his older brother has come into his own. brian had always been the more suave one, the one every one thinks is so charming. but now there is a different air around brian, he’s more mature and the way he talks is smooth and sensual.
dexter also notices how brians body has changed. brian has always been the skinner of the two, but now he’s lean. he’s put on some muscle and while it isn’t a big change, as brian is still skinny, dexter notices it.
dexter has always been the stockier of the two, having more muscle mass as they aged. he can thank his judo classes for that.
dexter has never thought of himself to have wondering eyes. he is observant, but never like this. he notices when brian reaches for something and a sliver of his skin peaks from underneath the shirt. it’s hard not to notice when brians hip bones jut out in a way that’s so alluring.
he knows that he cannot last another day in his tiny apartment with brian there. dexter fears he’ll lose all control. that one evening he’ll decide enough is enough and kiss brian stupid. that he’ll press brian against the counter top, and brian will make a sound as it digs into the small of his back.
sometimes when they’re drinking, a part of dexter hopes that brian will be the first one to make a move. that his older brother will climb into his lap and kiss dexter like he wants to devour him whole.
until then all dexter can do is let his stares linger and dream
