Shrewstar - She-cat - Gorseclan - 82 moons
-Shrewstar tends to be a silent and strong leader. She prefers not to stick her nose in other clans business, and is also generally unlikely to help them unless necessary.
-Her warrior name was Shrewgaze, due to her analytic mind and watchful eye.
-She’s surprisingly willing to help outsiders of the clan, viewing it as an investment that may pay out later.
-She has a complicated relationship with her sister, Deerpath, who she used to be much more close to in youth, but grew distant to after Deerpath went on a journey, abandoning the clans for 20 moons.
-She’s half siblings with Sneezetuft and Morningpath, who she regards fondly.
-She’s relatively short, which is quite uncommon for her clan.
Shrewstar (left) and Sloehoney (right)
both asswhole xenophobics who appear in Aphidsong’s side of the story. Wanted to give them designs because why not?

Frost Water: Tell me, how do you choose these "deputies", Shrewstar? Is it some sign or something else?
Hello Frost Water! It’s great hearing from you!
Well, how a Deputy is chosen actually varies by the Clan!
I’ll start with ThunderClan, since I was ThunderClan’s Leader and had to make this choice a few times.
In ThunderClan, the Leader picks the Deputy by themselves. It’s a lot of pressure! You have to take into consideration the time period and what’s going on, your personality and theirs and how you’d be able to work with them and how they’d be able to work with you, what their standing is like in the Clan…
And then the Leader decides. Signs don’t really factor into it, and of course the Leader is free to consult with their Clanmates on the matter. They can even ask the Medicine Cat(s) to speak with StarClan on their behalf for advice.
However, the ultimate decision must come from the Leader. Then they have to ask, and if the Deputy choice turns down the role, the whole process repeats itself until the Leader chooses someone who accepts the role. Though, turning down the role is pretty rare. I think the most recent one was Mangledfur of RiverClan. He said he didn’t want to be Deputy because he felt that his injuries would keep him from functioning as well as he used to, and he considered it unfair to the Clan because they wouldn’t be getting his full strength anymore.
Speaking of RiverClan, their Leaders have a lot more consulting to do! The Leader is mandated to consult with the Elder(s), the Queen(s), and the Medicine Cat(s) about the cats they’re considering for Deputy. Only if they get approval from all three groups are they allowed to summon the cat in question and offer the role to them. As in ThunderClan, if the cat rejects the post, the whole process repeats itself until a Deputy is found. Usually doesn’t take long; it’d be unusual for more than one or two – though two only happened once a long time ago – cats to reject the role. After Mangledfur refused the role, it was Foxflower who was asked, and of course everyone knows she accepted the role.
WindClan does it kind of like RiverClan; their Leader also has to consults with the Elder(s), Queen(s), and Medicine Cat(s), but it happens differently. In WindClan, it’s those three groups who draft a list of Deputy candidates, and the Leader must select a Deputy from that list unless they can demonstrate that, like, the Clan needs a Deputy with a certain trait and the options presented don’t fit the criteria. Then the Elder(s), Queen(s), and Medicine Cat(s) draw up a new list with the trait in mind, if possible, and the Leader chooses from that new list. Their Deputies can’t actually reject the role. They can step down a few seconds after their Deputy Ceremony, but they can’t actually reject the role.
ShadowClan specifically requires the Queen(s) to be consulted.
Oh, I’m pretty sure in all the other Clans it’s Queen(s) and -flower cat(s) who actively hang around the Nursery (as opposed to -flower cat(s) more active with teaching Apprentices), but I could be wrong. A lot of times Queen(s) and -flower cat(s) who hang around the Nursery a lot are lumped together as just ‘Queen(s)’. It’s so confusing!
And, uh, the Deputy can reject the role. But it has to be done publicly when the public offering of the role is made. Not too sure how that works, to be honest. I don’t usually pay attention to Deputy Ceremonies from other Clans. I’m usually busy trying to answer questions or ask questions involving various StarClan cats and/or Spirit Kits.
I hope this answer satisfies you!
Shrewstar
Hello everyone! Is everyone doing ok? I’m Shrewstar of ThunderClan! I’m not the Leader anymore, right now that title goes to Firestar, but I was Leader! For a little…
I’m pretty clumsy, which is something all of my Clanmates will attest to. Though I actually lasted pretty long as a Leader! The Nine Lives I got really helped with that.
Uh, let’s talk about family!
I’m a light chocolate tabby; that means I’ve got brown fur and brown stripes. The stripes are darker than the fur, obviously, but I’m still pretty light in colour over all. My eyes are lemon yellow, and very pretty. I got them from my daddy, Ashface. My mommy, Ruddcloud, is also very pretty. Though I’m not a -face, unfortunately, according to ThunderClan standards. I’m too small to be a -face! Goodness, I think I’m the smallest of all of ThunderClan’s Leaders, past and present!
I have one brother, a chocolate spotted tabby with white tuxedo markings named Pheasantflower. He would’ve been a -face like daddy if not for his skill with and passion for helping raise Kits. He was a great help with his mate Thymeheart – isn’t she technically my sister by her being my brother’s mate? – when they had their two litters! Oh goodness me, so many Kits.
I believe I have five nieces and three nephews. My nieces are Falconface, Magpieclaw, Molefang, Kestrelcloud, and Harrierflower. My nephews are Shrikeface, Sedgeface, and Rainflower.
I don’t have any Kits myself. Goodness, imagine if they got my clumsiness! Besides, Pheasantflower had more than enough Kits to ensure our bloodline would continue. We’ve still got living descendants in ThunderClan! Let’s see, I do believe Mousefur came from Rainflower’s line…
Oh, but anyway, don’t be afraid to ask questions! I love talking about myself, or about my family, or about being Leader, or even the weather! See you later!
