Today's destination: Mount Mitake, on the outskirts of Tokyo. A largely uninhabited land, it is the highest peak in the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park. From the Shinjuku Station, which Hiroaki fortunately lived right nearby to, it takes an hour and a half to travel to the Mitake Station and start the ascent up the mountain.
He had heard it was a beautiful place to go, and not that far away. The climb would take about two and a half hours on average, he heard. If it wasn't obvious by now who he was going to be taking to such a place, the resident rock climber would probably find the mountain to be a cultural treat.
It was 10am in the morning, plenty of time for them both to meet up at the station with all of their gear ready. Hiroaki didn't really know what was needed for hiking, but he had a backpack with two bento boxes inside for each of them and a water bottle for himself. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was pretty under-prepared, but optimistically Roger would have anything essential with him, being the expert.
The host stood on the platform waiting for his companion arrive, hopefully before the train did. The train was something he took daily to get to work, but the fact that he would be going on it with the most important person to him made it much more anticipated. They could sit side by side and hold hands secretly between the seats... The thought made him subconsciously clasp his own hands together.
It seemed to be a sunny day today, fortunately. Hiroaki waited patiently, leaning against the large advertisement that was spread against the station wall.
