would a lady w a shaved head need to wear a tichel hypothetically

Mod here. Rules and customs around hair covering vary by denomination. To keep things reasonable, I’m going to ask that responses be limited to people whose FOR includes women covering hair under at least some circumstances, and request that respondents specify their FOR.

Spoiler alert, but keeping short or shaved hair is actually typical for married, hair-covering women in some communities and tichels aren’t the only hair-covering custom in Jewish communities. I’ll let someone else with more expertise fill us in though...

There might be some gentile seamstresses with a good answer, but I figured I'd try hear since others who cover with wigs&headbands or just headbands might have a solution: I ordered a headband online. Top is a fabric that's gathered on either end so can make wider or thinner covering, and behind the neck to keep it on is elastic covered with a gathered fabric. (1/?)

(Headband ask continues) I guess I have a small head because it's too loose on me. Any simple ways to fix it? I don't want to send it back or use a tailor because don't want to put anyone at covid risk but it's also cute and I've been needing a headband of that style to fill outfit gaps for a while....unfortunately videochat still shows my head so not helping. I have basic hand-sewing skills. I hope this makes sense? (2/2)

Hi!! So I’ve been looking up info on tichels and who wears them and so on, and I’ve seen wraps that cover absolutely all hair and then some that let some hair hang out in front or in back. From what I’ve found, Jewish people who wear tichels normally do so for modesty and wraps must cover all hair or most all of it. Are the tichels that allow fringe in front or back for a specific group? Or just worn by Jews trying to make a cultural statement and not for modesty? Thanks so much!!
