he’d asked her to get a drink with him. tatsu knows a come-on when she sees one, and she isn’t the type to indulge shady men. even if he wasn’t a criminal, even if she wasn’t a widow. they’d fought the demon-sorceress, and the mission had ended. the criminals calling themselves the suicide squad had been dragged back to their cells, or so tatsu assumed. she hadn’t followed up with waller to ask. she’d been paid handsomely for her services, and she guessed she’d never see waller’s prisoners again.
call it curiosity. call it loneliness. but here she is.
she’s outside his cell. bottle of sake and two small cups, almost like a peace offering. she sits cross-legged outside the bars -- none of belle reve’s guards had thought to question her. “i brought you a drink,” she says shortly, hiding her unease in short, clipped sentences. “you asked me for one -- earlier. in the field.”
