Been meaning to talk about that last She-Hulk issue one more time, specifically its villains, who are a group of "bio-right activists", i.e. mutant haters. For the record, I haven't been reading X-Men so I don't know whether they are unique to She-Hulk, or a new invention for this comic. But either way I think they're interesting and an important addition to the villains stable.
Specifically, they seem to be the Marvel universe version of all the groups right now that are trying to use anti-discrimination language and arguments to support their hatred and xenophobia. The most obvious example, because the name fits so nicely, are the "men's rights activists", but they're far from the only ones. Just search for "conservatives oppressed" on twitter… or better yet, don't. There's also a sizable group of people who believe christians are being oppressed in the western world, and/or white men.
The comic here condenses and simplifies these groups a lot, but the basic idea seems to be the same: That the real victims are the majority, who need to assert to their rights, for some reason. This comic also gives them some anti-immigrant rhetoric. Which doesn't make any sense, of course, but then making sense has never been a requirement for right-wing extremists.
I think that's an interesting take, especially since X-Men have focused too little on anyone but religious zealots with the purifiers. That said, the comic takes them and then doesn't do anything interesting with this group. Of course the bad guy gets a rocket launcher, which of course gives She-Hulk the right to punch him in the face, and that's it.
For the comic as it is, which is really all about She-Hulk's inner turmoil, that's perfectly okay. But I also think there's room for comics that do a bit more to expose the hateful and nonsensical underpinnings of this "the majority are the truly persecuted" justification for hate and violence.
