Shundain!Cinis is a lot harder to approach than her normal/canon self-- she just gives off these unapproachable vibes, almost as if she’s put a high wall between herself and the others.

It certainly doesn’t help that she’s just as preferring on being alone like her canon self, and seems to fit right in with how the Shundain dorm is laid out which lets her be on her own as much as she can.

However despite her aloof personality, she is very much loyal and listens to whatever orders that Wang Chanyu gives out. Cinis also adheres to a strict sense of discipline and responsibility.

Yu Xiang’s demeanor perplexes her somewhat but she catches on pretty quickly whenever he’s being a (flirty) idiot and does seem to respect him enough. 

She pretty much sees Zhu Chunying as a growing child, a carefree youngster, and thus holds nothing against him. That and she has faith in him to mature sooner or later.

She thinks that Liu Sheng is horribly misunderstood by a lot of people, including even in their dorm, as she pretty easily can tell that he’s a gentle soul in spite of his intimidating and gigantic build.

jiao is a dainty second year whose rather small but incredibly formidable at anything you put her up against. she fully believes that to be truly honorable is to not only be graceful on the battlefield, but graceful with how one carries themself every other situation! jiao performs as perfectly as she can and you can often find her encouraging other shundain students not to slouch, to speak respectfully, to show charisma and intellect, as behavior reflects how others see the dorm. when she gets angry, she pouts and you will feel the wrath of her whipping you into shape with her hand fan. grace is powerful!!!

she certainly means well but she can come off as intimidating and sometimes intense to the average person. i mean, she’s gotta resting bitch face tbh.

Shundain had always interested Anna. It was a fascinating dorm, one that harnessed the fierce glow of the battlefield, not only with the fighting spirit of the solider, but with the brains of army generals. And the scenery there wasn’t half bad either. She wanted to experience it first hand. Mustering up her courage, she adorned the spare Shundain uniform that she ‘borrowed’, tied her hair in two buns, and headed towards the dorm.

One thing that she did not account for is that, even though she was dressed the part, compared to all other Shundain members, she still stuck out in terms of physical ability. It was easy to tell she didn’t belong once morning training started. It didn’t help that she wasn’t at all used to the cold temperature. Her nose pink and frostbitten, causing her to struggle and lag behind everyone else.

So, that’s why she was being held at metaphorical gunpoint by a very intimidating dorm leader. She struggled to maintain eye contact as he loomed over her smaller stature. By the way they were standing, you could have called it a kabedon if you were ignorant to the fact there was not a shred of affection in the air, but rather a suffocating fear of being torn to shreds.

“Are you lost?” Chanyu spoke. That was a blatant mockery of a question. It sounded more like an accusation than anything. They both already knew the answer. He examined her again. Fresh meat? A frail first year? No. There wasn’t an ounce of bravery on her. No mark of a solider or indication that she could be any good on the battlefield. He would go as far as to say the magic mirror made a big mistake, if this even was the fault of the mirror. “You’re clearly not a member of my dorm. What’s a weakling like you doing here?”

It was becoming increasingly difficult to try and keep a cool face as Chanyu’s patience ran thin. It wasn’t until someone else approached him did the tension fade, if only by a little. A taller student placed a hand on Chanyu’s shoulder, causing him to turn away. This student had light hair and a scar marked on his face. They exchanged a silent look, one that she couldn’t decipher the meaning behind. Whatever it was, it worked in her favour, as Chanyu stepped back to let her escape.

She could feel Chanyu’s eyes burning into the back of her skull as Sheng escorted her away, branding an ill-fitting sigil on her very core. That stare was certainly going to leave an uncomfortable mark. “Don’t worry about him, he’s just...” Sheng trailed off, spending a moment to come up with the right word. “Protective... Of his dorm.” He was silent as he guided her towards one of the buildings. “He doesn’t mean any harm.”

“I’m sorry?” Anna laughed. “No harm? You must be joking. From how sharp his glare was, that guy could cut down an entire forest with one glance! If you hadn’t stepped in, I fear what would have become of me.”

He didn’t say anything in return. Was her joke in poor taste? She couldn’t tell if it was the temperate or the students giving her the cold shoulder that caused her to shiver. But she was extremely thankful when Sheng guided her into one of the yurts, where the warm air welcomed her with open arms. He sat her down and gave her something hot to drink. The warm mug felt like heaven on earth in he palms.

It wasn’t long until another student waltz in, every step he took more evident of his gaudy attitude. The falcon boy made his presence known, and didn’t even look them in the eye when he entered. “Sheng, Chanyu wants to see you, something about a unwelcomed gue-” He stopped when he noticed Sheng wasn’t alone. He looked her up and down, his eyes unwelcoming as they were curious.

He grinned. “Oops, didn’t mean to interrupt you and your girlfriend here. I’ll give you two some space.” With a sly smile and a wink, he reached into his pocket, throwing an item over to them before leaving the room. “Looks like you’ll be needing this more than me.”

Sheng picked up the item, turning it around in his hand. It looked like a branch with small white berries on it. No matter how much he looked at it, he couldn't make heads or tails of the item. Anna on the other hand, knew exactly what it was.

“Don’t touch that!” Anna blurted out. In a blind panic she manged to slap the cursed plant out of his hand, embedding it into the carpet, and then stomped on it. If that didn’t prove her fear of festive plants, I don’t know what will.

Sheng raised his brows. He didn’t know something like a plant could cause such a reaction out someone. She wasn’t allergic to it, was she? Before he could speculate any further, she briskly stood up. “I think I should head back to my own dorm now. But thank you for helping me! I appreciate it.”

He gave her a confused look. Anna felt a twang of guilt in her chest. He actually thought she was a member of the dorm. Was the failed attempt at morning training and the complete lack of a backbone not enough to prove otherwise? She couldn’t do it. She couldn’t lie to him. That face was too precious to lie to. “Sorry... Your dorm leader was right, I’m not a member. I see you around, Sheng.”

Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly remembered the mistletoe. Failing to cooperate with the tradition resulted in bad luck. And with the day she had had, she didn’t need any more of that. While Sheng was distracted sitting in the chair, Anna quickly leaned in and planted a kiss on his cheek, right before bolting it out of the yurt and the dorm itself. He brought a hand up to his face. He felt something touch him. But was quick to brush it off as a fly landing on him. That girl sure was eccentric. He hoped they would cross paths again.

How does shundain feel about yuu?

i'm so sorry champ for not answering this any sooner bc i was dwiddling back and forth on this but finally. i felt a spur of motivation. so !!! HERE WE GO (on that note though, sheng's going thru a bit of a character change so he might seem a lil different here)

i think the ones yuu would most likely get along with is sheng or xiang for sure. xiang is just incredibly outgoing by nature and i feel like he'd enjoy teasing yuu a lot lolol

sheng on the other hand... it might take a few chapters until u see sheng warm up to yuu. it's not like sheng would be particularly guarded or anything, but i just feel like that considering whatever circumstances shundain might have during their episodes, he isn't really keen on focusing on befriending them. but once they get past that stage, i think sheng would grow a fair liking to yuu (and join the first year squad, naturally). he wouldn't particularly pity them for their entire situation, but commend them for adapting so well to it and having found some form of footing in twisted wonderland.

xiang would think yuu's pretty funny, especially with their pretty blatant humor. but other than that, i don't think there'd be too much going on...? except for like. the shundain episode, i feel like xiang could potentially play a fair helping role to yuu and co. but i haven't figured out the details yet oops.

per usual, chunying would be the one who is a lil brat towards yuu. he doesn't necessarily have anything against them, but he'd be just such a prick out of sheer principle. he can, so he will! i'd argue that he'd play more of an antagonistic role during the shundain episode, so i think a lot of his dislike comes from there as well? but give it the episode that follows after and i feel like chunying would have warmed up to them quite fast but still antagonizes them for the sake of it. he's just, like that. (and he would especially antagonize grim for being such a whiny baby, like he's one to talk.)

and then there's chanyu. i think a lot of what he thinks of them depends on the course the shundain episode will take, but one thing's for sure, he does commend them for whatever smart tricks yuu might have up their sleeves. he can respect that! (does he respect whatever happened in the episode. nooo. and he will remember that.) i don't he would be particularly hateful of them or anything...? maybe a little petty, but really, it doesn't go far beyond that. but i will say, it'd be super duper fun to see them working together for the episode that would follow after...
