zoro's swords being so done with his pining towards sanji, they know how down bad he is for sanji and try to intervine to get them together, also bc of the emotional connection between zoro and the swords they also feel pulled towards sanji, they want to be close and touched by him
one piece au where swords have spirits in the form of dragons ft. all 5 of zoro's named swords
inspired by @/lunaisanartist's beautiful santoryu painting
Misc notes:
most swords don't have dragon spirits, they must be "cultivated"/hatched over time, formed from their use and time in the world
e.g. a skillful grade sword made by a master swordsmith but has hung on the wall since it was made will not have a spirit as it was not used and the sword not cultivated, compared to a common sword that has been used a lot)
however, the sword needs to last long enough so weaker swords that can't last 100+ fights will not be able to cultivate a sword spirit, i.e. baseline for spirit formation requires a certain forging and sword quality
It took me a while and it was a pain to adjust the pose, but I'm really happy with the result! I also wanted to try and draw Zoro's katanas and experiment with the perspective for fun, it looks cool!
It's fun to take note of which sword Zoro pulls in what situation
Wado is treasured and only gets used when either the rest are out of commission or for worthy opponents
Kitetsu was sharper than Yubashiri but it started acting like a 'problem child' and considering it was a cursed sword with an aura Zoro could sense, it is only used in tough situations and against more dangerous opponents
Shusui is most commonly unsheathed because not only is it powerful but also doesn't give him trouble like Kitetsu tends to
Wado is still treasured enough to be only pulled when all three are needed and the only one he wields with his teeth
