okay, you missed the entire point. Being trans isn’t a sign of disrespect, it’s ignoring what the original writer had in mind for their character makes it disrespectful. If you really want a trans version of a character make them trans!bent like race!bent characters. Not everyone writes their characters out that way and this is what needs to be said. if a character is written trans/gay/bi so be it, i’m not against it. About the canonly queer character, exactly what you said ’taking a straight character and making them gay‘ I understand there are more straight characters but by making the canon straight ones different than their canon sexuality, they’re making them obsolete. It goes the same way for gay characters and turning them straight. your argument doesn’t really go anywhere other than repeating what I just wrote.

transbent is not the correct term and that is borderline transphobic. it’s called cisswaping first of all. and i’m not even gonna comment on the second thing bc... really...? racebent? lmao. you mean whitewashing? no one is insisting that you HAVE to play a character the same, that’s the point. we all have our own variations of portrayal. how are you even comparing the two? maybe if there was more representation there wouldn’t be a need for this “”””straight erasure””””  you speak of. if i made my lydia a lesbian it wouldn’t matter because there are plenty of other straight characters on teen wolf. but if i erased mason’s sexuality, and randomly decided i wanted to make him hetero, then all the representation for that show is now gone. like more than 90% of all media is in favor of straight people. if it wasn’t so heteronormative, then there wouldn’t even be a need to headcanon characters as queer. just let us have this one thing and don’t shit on it. taking the little canon representation we get and erasing it is disrespectful and prejudice af so don’t even try to say it’s the same.
