#Repost @shwickmarket ・・・ If you haven't been in here, this weekend is your chance to come! Enjoy the architecture and shop talented makers of all kind at the Brooklyn Makers Market. This venue is not open to the public on a daily basis, so come take advantage!!! 😍 Weylin B. Seymour's brings a New York treasure back to life. Originally built in 1875 as the Williamsburg Savings Bank, this masterfully restored multi-level space features two soaring 110 ft. domes over mosaic marble floors. Every corner of this national landmark reveals pristine Neoclassical and High Gothic Victorian design. There are also three unmodified "bird cage" style elevators in all of New York City. Weylin B. Seymour's is located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Established in 2014. Completed in 1875 and deemed "One of the most monumental spaces surviving in New York from the Post-Civil War era" by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Williamsburgh Savings Bank was and remains an icon of an early New York neighborhood in its prime. The Beaux Arts Classical building by preeminent New York architect George B. Post with Aesthetic-styled interior decorations by designer Peter B. Wight was not only significant to Brooklyn, but instrumental in shaping the trends of architectural design throughout the nation. Post and Wight's interior was designated a New York City Landmark in 1996. Thirty years before, the bank's exterior received the same honor. The site was also inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This year we received the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award for our restoration. #BrooklynMakersMarket #Williamsburg #NewYork #Market #NewYorkMarket #ShwickProduction #Shwick #Architecture #design (at Williamsburgh Savings Bank)
