oh boy. hes not. he always is. he never self-reflects and he is always self-reflecting. no i think for the most part he really avoids looking inside if he can. he’s always running, you know! makes things easier if he never looks into himself for anything.

Things were not, over all, going well. They weren’t going terribly, especially when it came to the metric with which the Doctor measured things, but they weren’t going...well. Which was disappointing, really, because had, as always, come into this with the thought that it would go well. Which was something he really should stop doing at this point.

“I think,”  he said as he settled himself behind a wall, safe for the moment--safe enough to quip, anyway-- “that the odds I gave you of this going well weren’t quite as accurate as I had hoped.”

“I do my best.” He draped an arm over her shoulders as they settled down into the couch for some telly before parting for bed, just like they always did every night after getting Arthur to bed. The Doctor wouldn’t call it snuggling, he doesn’t snuggle, but it absolutely was. “You, Clara Oswald, deserve to smile. Especially after the day you’ve had.”
