Move over mid hero, the real superhero anime is here. What a great first episode. The most relatable superhero ever, social anxiety, quiet, cute, sign me up.

I like the fact Shy “failed” to save the girl at the beginning of the episode. The little PTSD spell she had was very natural for a 14 year old who’s thrust into this role. She’s just a kid, but as a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. It’s an important lesson to learn for anyone, you just can’t save everyone.

Russian Hero is so mommy. Nice pep talk she gave to Shy to cheer her up, and then helping her save the mother and child trapped in the burning building. That’s a cool ability she has to be able to travel through portals. Her guidance and advice to Shy is really important at her young age

Another mommy dommy.. unilord gives off Goblin Slayer vibes. Kind of mysterious.. I’m definitely really interested in this world. Almost feels as if everything isn’t as it seems. Maybe some plot twists around the corner?

And would you look at that! Iko survived and is Shy’s seat neighbour. And she’s voiced by Toyama Nao 😍

SHY, episode 13

Well they followed up a great opening episode with a really good and significantly darker second episode. I love this show and Teru so much already!

I didn’t think that Shy would reveal herself to Iko so soon, but given the circumstances she had little choice. It was cool to see both of their backstories interwoven so well throughout the episode. They actually have quite a bit in common.

That’s a lot of guilt and self hate that Iko has been living with for all of these years. I can’t imagine the pain she was going thru blaming herself for her parents’ death. Sucks that the villain took advantage of that, but in the end Shy was able to reach her.

Villain is definitely giving off Kamen rider vibes with using the darkness in peoples’ hearts to turn them into monsters. Going to be tough to take him down for sure.

Both girls can finally move forward now that we know Iko is grateful for being saved and Teru is happy to do the saving lol. Start of a beautiful friendship.

I love how Stardust and Shy helped each other grow. Stardust helped Shy discover her true power, leading her to fight with courage and determination to defend her title as a hero.

And Shy as a true hero helped Stardust recognize that deep down he is kind and gentle, despite everything people say.

Stardust, despite his appreance, has many insecurities about his heart and his ability to be kind, allowing himself to believe what people say about him, that he has no heart and feels no emotion.

I loved this moment because as Shy as a hero as well as the light in people's hearts, she helped Stardust overcome a deep insecurity about himself.

So Shy at this time helped Stardust recognize his kind nature like his friend had before.

I loved this exchange of help and kindness!💖

Mai, an extremely sensitive girl who loved all forms of life.

Mai, a very talented ninja.

Mai, a girl with the talent but not the heart to be a ninja.

Mai, a girl who was forced to repress herself, her feelings and her true heart, in the name of justice, consuming her soul in this way.

Hollow, a mask of coldness, ruthlessness, hatred and sadness.

Hollow, a mask that ended up taking over Mai's heart, leading her to hate herself and the whole world.

I loved everything of Mai's story. It was both deep and heartbreaking at the same time. I can't find the right words to describe it. All I know is that one of the things I loved most about this whole story arc was the way Mai ended up accepting her pain, taking it on board, finally having the courage to lift up her head and decide what to do with her life, giving breath to her true heart and soul.

Mai is one of the many examples of how we can lose ourselves but it's never too late to change, because the ones with the dice in in the hands are always us, and it's up to us to decide when to throw them back and try again, making better mistakes, learning more, never stopping.

I was very moved by the fact that in the end Mai's true nature, her true heart, was inherited by Shy. By using Mai's powers, Shy revives the true will of the kind-hearted ninja, and I think this is one of the most beautiful things ever!💖🌸
