wow I’m bringing home the bacon~
I only transcribed 2 less than 3 minute videos today, those were my first jobs (you get paid like 45 cents per minute of audio, I forget exactly). My transcriptions also got graded today, I got a 5/5 on both. I’m glad being such a grammar snob and spending too much time trying to figure out song lyrics is doing me favors for once in my life lmao
I really feel like the people who got fired from this job were just bad at it?? and that’s what all the bad reviews on that are about. lmao my favorite bad review was from a college professor?? who was complaining about his application being denied? like “my grammar is perfect how dare they not hire ME” but like it’s not all about the grammar guy, you gotta write like how ppl are talking and know when to omit fillers and shiiiit and like I’m not always clear when to use commas but I think less is more when it comes to that.
What I’m getting at is I’m not always perfect but I managed to get hired so it’s more abt understanding their guidelines than grammatical perfection
I will say all the complaints about the beginner jobs not paying well and having piss poor audio quality or people with strong, hard to understand accents is true. The pay gets better as you get more credibility. You also get access to more/better jobs once you move up in status. They go from rookie to revver to one more tier up I forget the name of. But once you transcribe 60 minutes of audio you get bumped up to a revver status
so anyway, if ur looking for a job u can easily do at home rev.com hires freelance transcribers. You need a good understanding of english grammar and uuuh. Just common sense on what to omit and patience to listen to audio. All in all it’s an alright side gig. You def can’t make a living off of this but they say the average is like $150/mo. Also it pays out every monday, there’s no minimum earning and it just goes through paypal. So that’s cool I guess.
Also, you have to do an application (there’s a grammar quiz and u have to transcribe a sample video). Once you’re hired there’s some paid training (which both the videos I did today were). I applied on sunday and heard back from them today (tuesday). They aren’t open weekends so that was pretty fast to get back to me
It’s more profitable than the paid survey thing, I think. At the very least it’s more interesting and I feel like I’m actually doing something. Plus I’m not wasting time answering a billion questions just to be told I’m not qualified for the survey and then getting 3 cents thrown at me as compensation for wasting 10 minutes of my life
Some WIP sketches/designs for the new book I’m still in the middle of writing!
