I feel like this is literally as basic as it gets. It's just a basic side page... page. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU'RE INSTALLING IT YOU'VE LOOKED AT THE LIVE PREVIEW WITH EXPLANATIONS AND YOU'VE READ THE TEXT I LEFT YOU IN THE TEXT PORTION OF THE CODE ITSELF I STG I'VE EXPLAINED I THINK EVERYTHING I WILL IGNORE YOU IF YOU ASK ME A QUESTION THAT I'VE ALREADY LAID OUT. i stg. Also, I mean if some of you would like, you can use this as a base w/e for personal use or to claim as own idc. It's so simple and basic that idec about credits in the least. But if you are going to use it as a simple simple base for a side page, make sure you delete the vaudes credit in the css. Also, if you'd like the moon img for the background click here and use the url.
what's a slide page?
i found out that i got a callback from an audition i went to a couple weeks ago. it was for something called the young playwrights project. an actual/legit/paid show.
apparently they overlooked the fact that my head shot was taken on an iphone and i ad-libbed the entire middle section of my monologue. those tears were real, man. i was crying for the horrible status of the audition in progress... afterwards, i mumbled 'thank you' and literally ran out of the building. i called my best friend, anna, and left her a message that made it sound like i was either completely exhilarated or on the cusp of suicide. the former was true.
when i got the email about the callback, i was shocked. like really amazed. i felt so proud. they liked me! they really liked something about me! attached were the scripts and the producer referenced pages to be prepared for the second audition.
i called wendy. what's a slide page?
she laughed. apparently SIDE pages are excerpts taken from the script. rookie mistake.
this morning was the audition. i found myself googling things like
what to wear to a call back audition
should SIDE pages be memorized?
how to not freak out about a call back
i spared wendy from these novice thoughts, although i did send her a text because there was conflicting internet information and i wasn't sure if my scenes should be memorized... they did send me a monologue after all. she reassured me that i was going to be alright.
breathe, loni, breathe.
i arrived early. all of the other actors seemed to know one another. i recognized a few from shows i had seen recently. they were real. live. professional. actors. they were asking questions like, what are you currently working on? what's your next project?
i played my typical 'i'm not an actor/i'm a teacher/this is all new to me' card. they weren't really amused.
then, it dawned on me... i literally have nothing to lose by being here. my rent money does not depend on the success of this audition. there are no expectations on me to make this show, aside from wanting to have fun with theater.
so, i just let it go. breathe.
i was still nervous. my hand was shaking holding my printed SIDES. when i walked in, the director knew me by name (she did have my iphone-head shot after all...) and asked me to do the scenes a couple different ways.
i even learned some stuff. i heard other actors do the same pieces i was doing and noticed intonation and their interpretations. rather than feeling threatened or insecure, i thought, yes, that actually sounds really good! i should use that for my next audition.
i don't believe i will get a role in this project. but i won't make up stories like i just didn't look the part or they were looking for someone older.
honestly, i have a lot to learn. i am proud to get a call back and have the opportunity to 'play' theater with some really talented people on a beautiful saturday morning. i am humbled to know that i can learn this process and experience will only make me better.
i'm also just really glad to know the difference between slide and side.
onward!
Could someone PLEASE(!!!!!!) teach me how to create another "page" thing (like the ask, archive, submit things on the side of the page?)
I really want to have something for people to click on when they are having a rough time. I already have the names of the pages in mind (I want one that is 50 alternatives to behaviors, inspiring songs, hotlines, and one with the quiet room things that I see on other peoples pages) I don't have much to give in return (I only have around 130 followers) but you can self promo in my ask whenever you want and I will promote other people by your choosing. I am just incredibly tumblr illiterate and I need help.
