Upstart
"Wait, what! You're kicking me out? Why?" Sidekick struggles, kicking at his coworkers. They ignore his protest, continuing to drag him down the hall, an agent trailing behind. They stop just before the exit.
The agent steps in front of them, fixing Sidekick with an unimpressed look.
"You, are a spotlight-stealing upstart. In the six months you have worked here, you have not only managed to upstage Hero but Superhero too. When we hired you, it was for a support role. We made it perfectly clear that you were supposed to help the heroes, not make a name for yourself. We have given you several chances to change your behavior, but after last night, it became clear that you are unfit for this company."
"Wait, what?" Sidekick jerks, yanking at his arms and balling his fists. "You're firing me for SAVING people. People that Superhero COULDN'T save. Let go of me."
"And what would the people think if their greatest hero failed to save a few civilians when a punny sidekick could?"
"So you'd rather they DIE?"
The agent shrugs. "It is better for PR. If Superhero tries and fails to save them then he is respected for attempting the impossible. If you disprove that, it reflects poorly on him. You understand."
Sidekick snarls. "You crummy piece of-" He lunges but is caught and pinned by the guards, still thrashing. "Let me at him! Let me at him!"
The agent stares down at the bemusing sight. "Sorry, little sidekick. That would be a detriment."
