HAPPY SPRING, PARAGONIANS ! 

The university is out of classes for a week, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to go anywhere but here !! Yes with technology from the brightest minds in the world, the town of Paragon has prepared quite a time. Stay tuned for details ! First and foremost, it’s being kicked off by a SPRING FLING DANCE ! Hosted in conjunction by the city and the university, the local event hall will be transformed for a night of special fun for ALL AGES !

The spring fling will be held at the local event hall on FRIDAY, MARCH 22ND. the theme is Woodland Wonderland. 

the main room will be a dance floor draped with fantastical decorations sure to immerse you in a magical feeling that gives you that WOODLAND WONDERLAND feel. 

There will also be a 21+ bar & lounge above the main floor. 

Along with a self-serve buffet for the night ! 

There will be activities like a photo station with some great props ( including live bunnies, available for adoption ! ) a chocolate fountain, a free horsedrawn carriage, and palm readings. 

Free childcare will be offered in the community center right next door ! kids under 13 can come and “camp indoors” for the night with plenty of structured activities, snacks, and chaperones to ensure a great time for all.

The dance portion of the event will last from Friday, March 22th, 11:00am EST and go until Wednesday, March 27th, 11:00am EST.

Feel free to continue non-event threads during the event.

We only ask that you start dance threads between Friday & Wednesday, but feel free to continue existing dance threads after !

Poppy looked around the room, eyes scanning quickly before her expression turned to disgust. “This is bullshit! I’m not staying here.” No Daisy. Could Poppy survive without her sister? Sure, probably. But she didn’t want to. And she certainly didn’t trust anyone else to make sure Daisy was safe. Too many people here wouldn’t do what it took.

“I’m leaving.”

Ever since her powers had come in, Piper had felt the hum of technology around her. She’d lived in cities, inner suburbs. Even at Paragon, with less people than she was used to, there was enough technology around her to feel it. Now? The electricity that flowed through them was cut off. Everything was cut off. It was like losing a sense she hadn’t even been aware of.

And it wasn’t the only one she lost. With technology being hit, her hearing aid had dropped out, leaving her effectively deaf. Her hearing had only gotten worse over the years, and she needed the aid now more than ever.

“Touch me and I’ll hit you,” she said when she saw someone’s shadow indicating their approach. She winced, not even able to hear herself speak, and sighed angrily.

Whilst everyone was over at the table, Ariel sat at the edge of the pool, her hand not even touching the water as she made some water hover up, shaping it into a ball as the water particles carefully flew a few inches off of her hand. Turning her head, she smiled at the other, not really noticing who it is. “Hey look.” She muses, throwing the ball back into the water, her hands swiftly moving into a motion where her hands flipped over, the pool water doing the same, her ability letting her keep the water inside instead of splashing over, a beam on her face.

the lights flicker out, the music stops, after the initial shock from the loss of power the roaring wind and hard hitting rain can be heard before the storm sirens sound all over the town and phones ring with an alert....

EMERGENCY! SEVERE STORM WARNING! TORNADO WATCH! REPORT TO PARAGON UNIVERSITY SAFE ZONE FOR SHELTER!

a strange storm has descended upon paragon, knocking out power all over town-- but thankfully the university has back up generations and can hold the town. transport will be arranged and everyone is asked to please try their best to make it to the university. upon arrival you will find where your safe location point is and to immediately report there in order to check in.

the storm interrupts the spring fling dance at approximately 10:34pm on Friday, March 22nd. the power was knocked out, and the mayor quickly came on stage to explain the situation

with the roaring winds and torrential rain, it becomes clear fairly quickly that it’s not natural. even mutants with control over weather have no affect on it. if anything, trying to subdue it only makes it worse.

the town takes its damage: dozens of downed trees and power lines, structural damage to an apartment building from a tree, broken windows reported in several locations

and just when everyone thinks they’re safe, things are slowing down...                      A MIST COMES IN

as the storm dissipates, the first thing anyone notices is the dense fog. this fog isn’t any normal fog. it comes before the rain is gone. it feels heavy. it gets into the vents. even inside, there’s no escaping it.

everyone around begins to act strange, but in different ways. the air they breathe is contaminated, and by the time people realize it is the fog, it is too late, even for those who might normally metabolize such things... this fog is tricky.

the affects of the fog last 24 hours, causing a new kind of chaos...

your character could feel ONE of the following things....

A GAIN/LOSS OF EMPATHY  ― your character may lose the ability to empathize with others, or they could feel a heck of a lot more than normal. 

AMNESIA ―  the loss of memory of a certain amount of time. this could be a few months, a year, or even longer depending on how old your character is.

HALLUCINATIONS ( psychosomatic )  ― there’s something there. there HAS to be something there... right? careful, your character could be experiencing hallucinations caused by the fog.

( PSYCHOSOMATIC ) POWER BLOCK ― your character would not LITERALLY lose their powers, but there would be a mental block in their mind, convincing them they have lost their powers. 

LANGUAGE MODIFICATION ― does your character have a second language or mother language different from the one they most commonly speak in? Watch out, then, because they might be one of those afflicted with a general inability to control the switch between the two languages.

EUPHORIA / INTENSE FEAR  ―  your character may feel pure and utter JOY for no reason, or a paralyzing TERROR. 

MANIA    ―  your character cannot stop moving. there must be something they can do. sitting still is NOT an option in this moment, and their mind is moving quickly. perhaps even TOO quickly.

BERSERK    ―  RAGE. your character could feel a sudden, hot, boiling RAGE at everything around them. 

SENSORY DEPRIVATION    ―  this could mean a temporary loss of sight or hearing or smell. this would be a complete and total loss for your character for the duration of the mist’s affects.

do not create dance threads during this time but if you would like to continue your dance threads into this part of the event then you can!

FIRST, the storm hits and everyone goes to their safe zone THEN after a few hours, the fog comes in. SOON AFTER, affects start showing up. in game, these would last until 6am the morning of March 24th.

the affects of the mist are NOT PERMANENT and while they affect everyone differently, the longest they’ll stay in one’s system is 48 hours.

WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING STRANGE?

this year PARAGON will be taking part in an ALL DAY EVENT on the day of HALLOWEEN instead of the plain ‘ol party at the end of the day. so mark your calender's and make sure you skip class and leave work early ! at 1pm the doors will open and the halloween festival will begin. there will be everything you could imagine like games , costume contests , face painting , arts and crafts , amazing and greasey food & so much more ! at 8pm things will get a little.... darker. the haunted hayride and the big haunted house will be set up by 8:30pm SHARP so DEFINITELY bring a friend if you’re scared easily. places like karma club and cloud 9 will be giving free admittance to anyone in costume where they’ll also be selling specialized halloween-inspired drinks. and the drive in will be playing horror movies all day long ! trick or treating will be going on until 8pm so get that free candy while you can and no stealing candy from children this year please. 

and for the MAIN event everyone will be looking forward to ; the party on halloween. it’s got a sort of magical touch that nobody can really describe except for saying there’s some sorcerer behind it all. ( there isn’t. it’s just that awesome. ) the party will be ON CAMPUS and starts at 10pm and will go on all night and probably into the morning. the only thing you need in order to be allowed in is to be IN COSTUME. no lame t-shirts. some effort , please. 

where: all over paragon ! the festival will be in town , the party however will be on campus.

when: in character this will happen all day on october 31st. but ooc this will start oct 26th ( 9am est / 1pm gmt / 12am aest - 27th ) and end on november 2nd ( 12am est / 4am gmt / 3pm aest )

notes: this is an OPTIONAL event but we do encourage people to take part in it. it’ll be fun for everyone - even the characters with small children ! please tag all open starters ( please don’t clog the tag with closed ones ) as sidekick.event11. while this is an optional event , we do need everyone to tag all of their event starters / threads as something so that people know it’s an event thread if needed. and since there’s a bunch of things going on during this event , opens should be tagged with the location as well. and also , once the event is over you are free to continue current convos ! have fun !

BREAKING NEWS: UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE RELEASED.

EARLIER TODAY a “ mysterious “ gaseous substance was seen in the vents of paragon academy. the gas does not seem to be harmful but affecting enhanced humans , aliens , mutants , metahumans and any powered individual. some who have been affected have shown signs of loss of control of their powers while others have lost their powers which does not seem to be permanent at this moment. in some cases , humans have even been affected in the forms of gaining unusual abilities , the most popular ability being intangibility , followed by various enhancements such as strength , durability and speed.

in order to control the breakout , paragon has been put under a lockdown until the substance has been taken care of. the school also urges the students to find an adult if they are effected and are a danger to themselves and others. also , while classes were supposed to start today, august 26th , they no longer will be and will instead be put on hold until steptember 3rd. 

extra info. all mutants , enhanced persons and aliens will be affected and will either a. lose control of their powers or b. they’ll lose their powers temporarily. some humans will be affected an will gain simple powers ( invisibility , speed , intangibility , telepathy , enhanced senses , strength-- other enhancements , etc ) so please do message us with what power you’d want your human character to gain if you want them to gain a power.

when ? august 26th , 10am EST until august 30th , 12pm EST. in character it will last the whole day of august 26th.

          THIS IS WHAT REVOLUTION LOOKS LIKE !!👊🤟

tensions have been high, with the mutant registration going forward and the attack earlier in the year. the school is divided between those who are for it, those who are against it, and those who see no point in fighting it. those who do see a point in fighting have organized a rally to publicly oppose the registration and anti-mutant biased. so spread the word: anti-registration protest to be held on friday, june 1st, kicking off at 10am with a march from the front gates to the stage and rally area on the opposite side of campus. this protest is captain america approved !! so bring your friends, make signs, skip your classes ( if your professors didn't already cancel them ! ) don’t sit around and let freedom be taken from anybody. do something about it. let your voice be heard ! 

THE MARCH: led by captain america and members of the x-men and avengers, it will begin at the front gates of paragon and they will march to the opposite side of campus, where the rally area is located.

THE RALLY: clubs and teams have stands set up, buttons of all kinds are being passed out, petitions are being signed, and several live music acts will be playing throughout the day. all this along with speakers important to the cause will make a fun, inclusive, day for everyone ! want food ? good thing logan's on the grill and local establishments have set up food stands.
