the lights flicker out, the music stops, after the initial shock from the loss of power the roaring wind and hard hitting rain can be heard before the storm sirens sound all over the town and phones ring with an alert....
EMERGENCY! SEVERE STORM WARNING! TORNADO WATCH! REPORT TO PARAGON UNIVERSITY SAFE ZONE FOR SHELTER!
a strange storm has descended upon paragon, knocking out power all over town-- but thankfully the university has back up generations and can hold the town. transport will be arranged and everyone is asked to please try their best to make it to the university. upon arrival you will find where your safe location point is and to immediately report there in order to check in.

the storm interrupts the spring fling dance at approximately 10:34pm on Friday, March 22nd. the power was knocked out, and the mayor quickly came on stage to explain the situation
with the roaring winds and torrential rain, it becomes clear fairly quickly that it’s not natural. even mutants with control over weather have no affect on it. if anything, trying to subdue it only makes it worse.
the town takes its damage: dozens of downed trees and power lines, structural damage to an apartment building from a tree, broken windows reported in several locations
and just when everyone thinks they’re safe, things are slowing down...
A MIST COMES IN
as the storm dissipates, the first thing anyone notices is the dense fog. this fog isn’t any normal fog. it comes before the rain is gone. it feels heavy. it gets into the vents. even inside, there’s no escaping it.
everyone around begins to act strange, but in different ways. the air they breathe is contaminated, and by the time people realize it is the fog, it is too late, even for those who might normally metabolize such things... this fog is tricky.
the affects of the fog last 24 hours, causing a new kind of chaos...
your character could feel ONE of the following things....
A GAIN/LOSS OF EMPATHY ― your character may lose the ability to empathize with others, or they could feel a heck of a lot more than normal.
AMNESIA ― the loss of memory of a certain amount of time. this could be a few months, a year, or even longer depending on how old your character is.
HALLUCINATIONS ( psychosomatic ) ― there’s something there. there HAS to be something there... right? careful, your character could be experiencing hallucinations caused by the fog.
( PSYCHOSOMATIC ) POWER BLOCK ― your character would not LITERALLY lose their powers, but there would be a mental block in their mind, convincing them they have lost their powers.
LANGUAGE MODIFICATION ― does your character have a second language or mother language different from the one they most commonly speak in? Watch out, then, because they might be one of those afflicted with a general inability to control the switch between the two languages.
EUPHORIA / INTENSE FEAR ― your character may feel pure and utter JOY for no reason, or a paralyzing TERROR.
MANIA ― your character cannot stop moving. there must be something they can do. sitting still is NOT an option in this moment, and their mind is moving quickly. perhaps even TOO quickly.
BERSERK ― RAGE. your character could feel a sudden, hot, boiling RAGE at everything around them.
SENSORY DEPRIVATION ― this could mean a temporary loss of sight or hearing or smell. this would be a complete and total loss for your character for the duration of the mist’s affects.

FIRST, the storm hits and everyone goes to their safe zone THEN after a few hours, the fog comes in. SOON AFTER, affects start showing up. in game, these would last until 6am the morning of March 24th.
the affects of the mist are NOT PERMANENT and while they affect everyone differently, the longest they’ll stay in one’s system is 48 hours.

PARAGON has always been a quiet town. it’s a type of town that you grow up in but never return to. it’s got a drive in movie theater ( yes those do still exist ) , a few old-school diners... it’s what you expect out of a town of its small size. paragon has always been quiet and small. until the school within the town started to let in the children of villains and even started to let in villains themselves. did you know that DEADSHOT , SABRETOOTH and LEX LUTHOR all have kids who reside there ? you think , how could the administration allow our children to be taught and go to school with people who have done so many crimes. MAGNETO & MYSTIQUE with classrooms full of impressionable minds ? who’s to say that they won’t just hurt someone because they spoke in the wrong tone ? is it not suspicious that ever since the school started to allow villains and their children that the town hasn’t been quite the same ? surely it’s more than just me. there was the murder of a student ( who’s investigation has ceased to exist ) kidnapping of naomi dane-summers ( which was so overly broadcasted that the girl didn’t go back to school for weeks ) , the mutant registration act , WINIFRED BANNER being shot , the attack on the school that injured many students including miriam maximoff and ISABELLE BARNES , as well as killing a beloved teacher , elizabeth ross , and one of the students , quinten isley-quinzel who was only twenty-eight years old. the school was in such horrible condition that classes were cancelled for weeks and everyone had to relocate to the old paragon dorms. there was the blackout. the mutant rally that ended in captain america being shot. and that’s only a few big things. what aren’t they telling us ? maybe it’s the destruction of property going around. " it’s just a group of teenagers “ they said. and more recently , the bank robbery and arson. and so far the police have done NOTHING. are they trying to hide it ? keep it under wraps until people forget about it ? not this time , paragon.
but what about the influx of stores being broken into ? and cars being broken into ? and the amount of drugs that are coming into paragon ? well , the last part is just what WE THINK is going on. because , come on , nobodies telling us shit about the increase in crime. maybe we do need all of these heroes in our town afterall. the numbers are in people: crime is up overall by 56% compared to this time last year in the town of Paragon. with such a rapidly developing area seeing such high crime rate increases, what does this mean for the people that have lived here for years ?
ANOTHER INFERNO UNRAVELS LOCAL REGISTRATION PROGRESS
late-night crime and arson has struck once again in the town of Paragon, this time in the form of the local mutant registration building being burned to the ground. the incident began at 2:45am the early morning of November 2nd when a group of 11 suspects dressed in various animal masks entered the building. traffic cameras show what police have described as a calm, orderly entrance into the building. smoke was not seen until they were inside for 14 minutes, and thus far it is unknown what the suspects were doing for that time. the fire spread quickly, and cameras show the suspects exiting the building armed with flamethrowers. out of reach of the fire on the scene, the suspects left a sign with “HOMO SAPIENS STAND WITH HOMO SUPERIORS” written in red spray paint.
police have confirmed that these 11 suspects are linked to the arson of Paragon First Financial in September, and have connected the flamethrowers seen on the camera to those used then. though the suspects seemed more calm during this transgression than the last, it is worth noting that their numbers seem to be increasing the more crimes they commit. the difference between the two seems to be that, unlike last time, the group did not get away with anything of value, nor did that seem to be their goal.
though no statements have been made directly, inside information tells us that police have had a significantly difficult time making sense of not only the scene at Paragon First Financial, but now the scene at the local Registration office as well. Those that lived nearby the inferno had mixed feelings about what’s happened.
“there’s a reason for this attack, and it seems to be pretty clear what it is,” said neighbor Jackson Trabue as he stared at the sign, the tallest thing left standing in the field, except for the investigators on the scene.
the point of ignition seems to be the records room, and due to the sheer heat and strength of the blaze, everything inside was destroyed. these suspects also specifically targeted the electronic databases which held all the local registration information, and all were reduced to little more than melted piles of metal. questions already started flying at the scene: what does this mean for local mutants?
quite simply, it means that most all local efforts in the registration have come undone. local law enforcement did not keep their own records of mutants, relying heavily on the local registration office for that info. according to school officials, the school does not have consistent records of who is and is not powered. as a result of all this, all efforts in keeping many mutants that have been labeled as DANGEROUS local will be ending as officials decide their next steps.
which leaves us with this question: did the registration ever help in the first place? crime reports from Halloween show a huge number of petty crimes such as robbery and assault, up 58% from last year on Halloween. considering the registration was just going into effect, should the result not have been to decrease crime, rather than raise it by over half? and as for these criminals that struck the bank and now the registration office, whose side are they on? do they have a goal deeper than simply sowing discord among the people of Paragon? we are once again left with many questions and not so many answers as crews work to once again pick up the pieces of a significant part of Paragon life.

BANK ROBBERY TURNED INFERNO: PARAGON FIRST FINANCIAL IN RUINS.
At approximately 11:35 last night, a bank robbery began at Paragon’s First Financial. A group of 8 suspects, all clad in black and masks of various US presidents set off a set of small explosive devices at the front entrance. Their disregard for subtlety continued in the quick, yet meticulously planned robbery.
Once inside, the group split in two. According to police, while part of the group focused on acquiring the money, the other part of the operation was aimed solely at destruction. Reports indicate that those set on destruction used flamethrowers to ignite the entrances. The fire quickly engulfed all three stories and the basement, and delayed authorities from entering the scene. Officials say that this crew escaped with what’s estimated to be the entirety of the vault’s contents, $85 Million, without a trace, through an unknown route in the basement.
Due to the incredible nature of this escape, the police Chief has stated that it is believed that this president-masqueraded heist was assisted by a mutant. More details are still forthcoming, but there is now a heavy police presence on the campus of Paragon Academy, though no questions have been answered as to whether this is to protect, or to investigate.
“They weren’t hiding at all, once they blew up the front door, they started laughing and... howling. They wanted us to wake up and see what they were doing.” a neighbor that witnessed the event unfolds explains, “they burned the entire building to the ground, but it sounds like they got out before the fire even got to them. Where’s the karma in that?”
The community is demanding answers as reports of more muggings and low-rate crimes have been flooding in as well. The county sheriff is working closely with the local police department, but no new statements have been made. Could this mean the beginning of dark times for the fast-growing town of Paragon?

every television, radio, computer within paragon and the small town changes to a broadcast. even your phone is showcasing it. the woman is familiar to some, she was the face of the first part of the registration but with recent events she hasn't been seen since the attack on the school. " with recent events... " her voice is as dull and boring as ever. " our previous statement about hunting those who did not comply has been greatly reconsidered. notices will be posted all around town and school of the new regulations and principles. " the screen fades and the electronic devices go back to regular activities. what are the new rules ? who is this woman that only appears when it's time to deliver bad news ? are mutants, aliens and those who are enhanced safe ?

“ hello mutants, humans, aliens, asgardians, superhumans... as you know, the first part of the registration had quite a few alarming things in it. this is not the case anymore. if you want to join, then please do but we will not be harming you if you do not want to register. but there are some new regulations ! those who have registered ( villain and hero alike ) will have extra credits appointed to them in their classes, there will also be a weekly trip into new york city that those who have registered will be allowed to go on. villain children , the ones we’ve been keeping such a close eye on , you’ll have a little extra breathing room with the city trips but you will also be allowed to leave town. don’t take advantage of this. if you have not registered you will not be allowed the previous things. your GPA will also be lowered by .5 points and anything beyond the limit of town will be off limits to you. next semester, you may not get first pick with your classes, either. or first pick for the dorms. again, the registration is completely optional ! and if wanted, you may go on to more testing and find out the extent of your powers. for questions about the testings, please seek a faculty member. “
the testings consist of figuring out the limits of your powers. if you can run fast they may put you on a treadmill and monitor your vitals, if you’re strong they may try and figure just just how strong you are.

A WOMAN IN BLACK WALKS UP TO THE MICROPHONE, clears her throat and begins to speak. she’s the face of paragon academy. you might not see her a lot, or ever, but she’s the woman in charge of everything small and big that happens within the small town in upstate new york. the noise in the background starts to die down as she looks into the camera. the broadcast is not only for the small town but for the entire country as well. “ thank you for your cooperation, “ she begins. “ it has been brought to our attention that each and every incident recently on the grounds of paragon academy has left many of us unnerved. we were built on protection and the safety of our students and we have made that stronger. as you have probably seen, we have nearly doubled our security and created a curfew as well as certain methods to ensure the safety of this student body. everything that has happened has been utmost unfortunate which makes what i am about to say even more difficult. from here on out, paragon will require each and every person who isn’t a human to register under our database with every single ability and power that you may have. you may ask yourself, “didn’t we do this already?” yes, yes you did but this will be on a much greater scale. we have scientists and doctors who will be doing tests for each and every one of you to figure out just what the extent of your power is. this is not an option. these tests are mandatory and if you decide to skip out on them then you will be hunted down and killed on site. and no, this is not anti-mutant. we, at paragon, welcome all species and all different types of people. “ this was most definitely anti-mutant and anti-anyone who wasn’t human. “ don’t forget to pick up your pamphlets at the main office which will have all of the information that you will need to know about this! “ a fake smile forms on her hostile looking face and the screen turns black.
