#justsewjan day 4: cold comfort. Staying warm in costume can be a challenge! The look you're going for may not agree with the weather, so what to do? I use thermic underwear a lot, but sometimes that doesn't cut it and a warm cloak may be the best option, even if it obscures the outfit beneath. This black cloak was made from a modern cape-like coat - I just opened up the seams that gave it arm holes, replaced the buttons at the top with a cloak hook, and added gold trim along the edges. The neck is still quite wide since the coat was a couple sizes too big for me, so I might still do something about that sometime. But I kept the pockets - warm cloak with fur-edged hood *and* pockets? Sign me up!
