Der verlorene Tag
JF: Am 8.
The constructions of the Westwall among other WW II-relics, a very good documented site.
When Tumpets Fade. Less glamourous, no lovestories interwoven and not at all the average hollywood miltary movie. As a movie a bit forgotten, just as the battle in the Hürtgenwald itself. Vers kanonnenvlees.

Cheerful song, to boost up the positive thinking of the troops. Sounds a bit too optimistic, troubling the view on the losses : estimated more than 33000 among the American troops and 12000 on the German side - not to mention the countless wounded. All happened in a wood south of Aachen, Hürtgenwald. And the famous Ardennenoffensief was still to come.
