It was something quite unexpected for Polly — there they were, at the front porch of Dean and Liv. It felt like time had rewind a couple years and they were just a couple of teenagers going out in a double date. She still could remember when they set up their friends that were still together. The most unexpected part was that she didn’t think that would ever happen again (or that Dean and Liv would still be together while they weren’t).Yet, dinner occurred smoother than she expected. Her friend didn’t accidentally mentioned that Chloe was Jason’s child and Dean didn’t make any awful dad joke that would make it obvious. A couple of hints here and there that made Polly skip a heartbeat, but soon enough they were on their third, fourth wine glass and it didn’t matter anymore. Somehow, it almost felt like they forgot for a while that they had grown up and life was all completely different. The only indicator of that was when Liv started her interrogation about Hollywood, which made Polly laugh, her alcohol level higher than it had been in years.
"God,” she hummed as they said good bye to their friends and was once again left alone, “I think the last time I’ve drunk this much it was on our senior year...” Polly mentioned as she stepped down the stairs. The streetlights were a blur showing the way. She didn’t live far away and the town was quiet — sometimes, too quiet. However, Jason had offered to walk her home and she was tipsy enough not to try to fight. And, she couldn’t lie, she would love to spend more time with him, any and all the minutes he could spare for her. It had been years and it was still hard not to have him around. “How did you like the food tonight?”
