Last day of teaching English Summer Immersion and my high schoolers and I ended our time talking with trekkers from all over the world at Siervas de Maria, one of Astorga's albergues. Those we met today, who are making their pilgrimage to Santiago from China, France, Germany, Croatia, South Korea, Italy and Chicago, USA, have all chosen to leave everything comfortable and known behind and do the very difficult. It bolstered me immensely, made me finally eager to pack my own bags and go. I'll be taking a different kind of trip; I'm not walking the Camino this time, but rather going far to teach.
