AHHH!!!! I'm watching 'Bones,' and Jamie Alexander (AKA Sif!!!!) is guest starring!!!! Love her so much!!!! It's a little odd using her real voice. Ahh!!!!
I'm going to say that this is the best episode yet. It had just about everything from action to humor to let's keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat!
Everyone is recovering from Skye's close brush with death, while Coulson is off sulking somewhere (we see a familiar face!).
Suddenly, they start getting readings. Like ones in New Mexico and London... Thor? Everyone is slightly excited along with a bit wary. "But they're our allies!" "Loki wasn't." Yea!!! Our bad boy has FINNALLY been mentioned by name. And then mentioned quite a few times throughout the episode by name, including Coulson without batting an eye. That bothered me a little. He should have said it not so casually. Anyway...
Lorelei is a saucy little minx. She's all about playing the room to get what she wants. Her little bit of feeling sorry for her is the she just wants to be left alone. Sif has a score to settle with her, not the other way around (not unlike the boys). Her pouty mask hiding the villain underneath was brilliantly played.
WELCOME LADY SIF! She doesn't seem bothered at all by all the fuss. She just wants to grab Lorelei and go back to Asgard. Sounds familiar. Kind of like Avengers... Smooth talking mind controling Asgardian being hunted down by another Asgardian. Fighting happens, talking happens, a muzzle is used. It's the ladies version of Avengers!
I loved how Sif kind of freaked out upon seeing Coulson. "What dark magic is this?!" Oh, Loki may have his tricks, but we have a few of our own. That didn't seem to faze her. Oh, well then...
Jamie Alexander is amazing FYI. I want to be Lady Sif's BFF.
We get to hear some of Sif's backstory, along with her previous dealings with Lorelei. Here is where it is awesome because this is directly from the comics and not previous MCU. Lorelei likes to jab at Sif that Thor seems to not notice her and what she really feels about him. Including reminding her that she was the one who turned his mind once before. (This is from the comics and, yes, our favorite bad boy was involved.)
Sif can operate the holo table, with a gawking Coulson watching her. That was one of my favorite lines. "Phillip, Son of Coul." The way she said it, made me feel all fuzzy. There was a fun girl bonding moment with Sif and May, the relationship between May and Ward brought up.
Oh, Lorelei got Ward. Then went to Vegas. Then snuck onto and hijacked the plane while the others were on board. Poor Fitz got all dreamy eyed and then punched out by Coulson. Some serious fighting between Sif/Lorelei and May/Ward. The good guys win and Sif goes to take Lorelei back to Asgard while May and Ward kind of break up and Coulson tells Skye the truth about the meds she took. Simmons put her foot down and told Coulson exactly how she felt, which is what her character needed. A bit tougher!
We still don't know who the blue guy was. Sif rattled off names of a few species (Kree were mentioned). They spent a moment talking about Frost Giants, which Sif dismissed because they had been defeated from Earth a long time ago (We all know how that ended up. Are we coming full circle?), but they were the only blue aliens to have come to Earth that we know of. Which kind of confirmed my theory. Which makes this whole thing a bit trippy.
Then the part that ties everything together and might be the set up for something coming later down the road in the Thor world. If you haven't seen Thor: The Dark World 1) go watch it and 2) stop reading.
Seriously, Joss recycled his Avengers script. There were so many parallels it was funny and fun to look for. But, anyway. Lorelei was in the Asgardian dungeon until the mass break out when the Dark Elves attacked. Guess who else was down there, biding his time? Our bad boy is far more clever and pocessing a great memory, along with being patient (delayed gratification!). Becuase Sif mentioned to Coulson that Odin sent her.
AND THAT WASN'T ODIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sif also mentioned something about a warrior needing to be by his side, but I'm not sure whom she was talking about because I was shouting in excitement. (Sorry!) Then talking about being honor bound and serving. Oh you devious little thing you! Loki knows Sif really well, knowing that she is highly loyal and very much in love with Thor. He's going to use that against her in whatever he's got brewing behind that smirk. He's going to use Lorelei to subdue the Warriors 3, while Loki will carefully work Sif. From our past viewing of the pair of them, she knows that he's usually up to something. Except, will she see through this illusion? I'm already seeing how the writers could use this to their advantage and create a neat little side plot. Loki vs. Sif: it'll be epic!
I know this was because some people may not have seen the movie yet or not want to give away a rather large and shocking spoiler, but I thought it would have been nice for Sif to tell Coulson that Loki was dead. (Though we know the truth.) Would have been nice to see Coulson's reaction, then that way everyone on Earth would be realxed and unsuspecting of anything that might actually be happening in Asgard...
Anyway, one of the best parts of the episode was after glorious Sif had left (awww...) and Coulson is telling Skye the truth. He gets very upset with her for not freaking out (because he is and holy cow his crazed eyes!), but she calms him down by saying that they were both alive. Then, so Skye's and I think everyone's concern, he vows to find out the truth. Even though that might mean breaking the rules and going against loyalty. What is Coulson turning into mentally? This is a huge character change for him, which has me a little worried.
We then see that May was listening, and contacts someone on a secure channel that "He knows." EEEK! Who is she working for?! Maaaaay!!!!!
One minor continuity issue. Unless Loki's got more than one Midgard secret passage or it can open anywhere, then how come it opened up in Death Valley and not New Mexico? That would be an awfully long walk. My bet's that it works like the Bifrost and can open anywhere.
So much fun! I already want to see it again! By far if not the best then one of the best episodes so far!
