help hi
Explore how I fucking shit your pants with prestigitation or whatever it's called
This genuinely looks so bad. They couldn't even get the shadows right. Why does AI not understand a basic window as a light source if it's soooo advanced? It's a window. It's like the first light source you learn to adjust for in a beginner art class.
I just want to add on why I'm so anti AI in art. Not so much otherwise but keep it out of hiring practices too because people can't use it responsibly while treating others with respect. Things like AI should be tools but I have always seen it as more valuable to learn how to draw and paint etc... without things like this. Art and music, creative stuff, and our unique ability to create is what sets us apart from other species and is why we have advanced more technologically than pigs for example. They are smart. Yes. Creative? Maybe. Can they express that as clearly as humans can? Imo, no.
Because we can create so vividly as a species even when AI attempts to recreate it, it ends up seeming void of soul. No idea what soul is tbh. Sometimes I can't be bothered to consider that too much. Normally when I'm doing digital stuff. When I'm working in my element tho... With paints and a canvas... Ooooh babyyyyyyyy! It's fun and even the failures add depth. Some of my favourite paintings where almost failures.
Here's an example:
This painting is one I've shown on here before but it was originally never meant to be blue.
It was meant to be grey with the flowers as a pop of colour. I mixed my colours wrong tho.
My room was dark because my head hurt so I lowered the lights. I couldn't tell I picked up my blue rather than my grey paint. (I even picked up a green at one point and so the lips ended up a kinda teal colour.) Ngl Idk what teal actually is but I think that is it???
The gold shimmering flecks are some of the small details people liked most in a recent exhibition I was part of locally. Camera doesn't really do the gold justice. That feature was caused by me knocking some gold acrylic ink over. It didn't spill but it was open and so some flicked on when it was knocked. I was too tired to try the method with water and a toothbrush to remove it.
TIP: If one layer of acrylic is fully fully dry (like a few days since the layer 'dried') and you don't like your most recent layer, rub it away with some water and an old wet toothbrush. Get scrubbing and then dab it with a rag. I use an old microfiber towel which I once used for my hair.
Thus I added it as highlights to the 3d textured bits.
Things can also go wrong by accident of course.
The texture medium I used for my flowers was old and deflated in volume before it fully dried so it wasn't as raised as I wanted it to be. I wanted a massive texture contrast but it's not really all that big in comparison to some previous work.
Another example is an ongoing piece I have for a small collection I'm gifting to a long term family friend as a house warming gift. It's not very detailed because I only took a few hours on it so don't be rude:
Once again... a case of my eyes hurt, I'll turn down the lights. Hence the blue face my bro got going on here. Up close this painting is a mixture of soft but kinda stuttering gradients and harsh, sharp lines. Why? I did it all with one palette knife and my fingers. This is me finger painting. Why X2? I couldn't find my brushes but I wanted to paint it.
It's things like this which gives artist their unique art styles but AI just asks you to describe it. The plan of this painting and the near finished painting are not very super similar but AI has no plan.
It has prompts.
Prompts lead to AI art.
A plan followed by a mistake that you fix or adapt to in your own way. leads to art as well as personal growth.
Even if you love ai art, if you agree with my last sentence there, you should try making art yourself. Without ai. You'd probably really enjoy it. Also it's better for the environment to just learn to draw. AI really damages nature.
Here's another rant. Have a nice day.
