Aoni just had a brief realization.
So we all know Sigma, aka Siebren de Kuiper.
A brilliant astrophysicist who, due to an experiment gone wrong and he became the gravity wielding super villain Sigma.
Hes awesome, hes like a comic villain ripped straight out of Marvel comics. But that's the thing... he feels too much like a comic villain. Especially a marvel one.
Pray tell, where would they get inspiration for a character like this? What possible source could they have referenced to make a character this badass and intriguing in character. Well I noticed something while rewatching Avengers Earths Mightest Heroes.
Behold Graviton, or Franklin Hall. He is a Marvel comics Super villain, Canadian Physicist turned maniacal super villain...
Yeah this already sounds familiar.
Graviton merges with his failed attempt at harnessing Gravity and he can then control gravity with his mind. He was referred to by Stark as "having energy like that of a Black hole."
Sigma was trying to harness the power of gravity and he inadvertently merged with aitter black hole, becoming one with a force of nature and reality itself.
I might be overthinking this, but my gut is telling me that Sigma isnt just a cool character. I think Blizzard had a concept, saw Graviton and decided to just go with it and didnt care.
Might just be me idk, but I still love Sigma nonetheless.
