Headcanon/background: Full-blooded Indian, Adarsh is a mild mannered History and Music teacher by day, politically motivated punk rock singer by night. He has short black hair, nicely combed during daytime hours and a well groomed soul patch. Except for the black plugs he wears in his ears, there is little about his professional persona that would belie his far more radical private life. Aside from being heavily involved in the punk scene as a singer/songwriter (he can also play the bass), he is heavily involved in what can often be considered radical political movements aimed at the deconstruction of the current, money-driven political system in favour of equality and honest legislative bodies. He's always been fascinated by history and political sciences, and along with witnessing his own parents struggle due to religious and racial discrimination, it's lead him to be fairly outspoken against the negativity of the political climate, as well as given him a rather rebellious streak. He's calm and patient, but very spirited about what he believes in to the point of extreme stubbornness. He tries to keep his teaching neutral regardless of his viewpoints, but he still puts a lot of focus on equality and the evils of discrimination. Bonus reference image: x
How will you run the class?: It would probably be similar to Paul, though sometimes he may give lectures (in the form of one big block of text as not to interrupt flow of students) and invite people to respond or reply with their given feelings and strike up good natured debate. This is mostly because I think it would be interesting to see the students occasionally discuss such things in character. Relation to other students? (Ask that student first!): Since there are no Vantases, I don't have any hard decisions yet. I assume since he's younger, he'd be like an uncle or something like that. Since Ancestors are one of those things up to interpretation, show how you translated the "troll base' into a fleshed out human character with a writing sample of at least one paragraph: "It's important to remember these past conflicts, as distant from us as they may be, because it shows that in the end it's the desire, or rather, the inborn urge for equality that can drive people to do great and terrible things. You must never underestimate the power of those whom are being subjugated, and in the end many of these bloody altercations could have prevented with a willingness to listen and understand. No single human being is worth less than anyone else, and it's an important concept to remember in your day to day lives." Mr. Vantas glanced around at the students of his class, smiling as he pulled his reading glasses off and set them aside. "I'm sure there have been occasions where all of you have felt that you've not received proper representation when dealing with others, and while those situations are uncomfortable and demoralizing, remember them for when you are dealing with others in the future. Please read pages 145 through 156 for your homework tonight, and write a short essay outlining the arguments for both sides, and how the conflict in question may have been avoided."
