ALRIGHT WITHIN THE WIRES FANDOM, HOW WE DOING?
It’s been a long year, but we’re back baby!
New season, new intro, new narrator! I’m not sure I’m feeling about this years format, it’s a bit straightforward compared to other seasons?? But I also super wasn’t into Michael and now he’s my favorite character in the whole thing so uh. Things change.
Speaking of characters! It seems like we’ll be focusing on Sigri(d?) and Freya this season, which is real neat cause in a story so about parenthood we’ve never had a parent child relationship at the center of the narrative. As for returning characters, there seems to be a nod to Nell in the first episode as a member of the cradle. It could be a different Nell, but that seems unlikely.
So, the Cradle. Our favorite anarcho-primitivists. J and J may have just trained me to be in an eternal state of paranoia, but in sensing a big ol’ Yikes. I got excited reading the description for this season (ANTI GIVERNMENT COMMUNE?? HELL YEA!!) but the cradle seems on some levels.... everything the society actually kind of had a point about?? Don’t get me wrong, whatever the hell is going on here is worlds better than The Society. But the dogma that Freya was repeating about family and protecting our own kinda really freaked me out. It’s interesting to think that the world has become far enough removed from post-Society life that it could become idealized in the way Freya seems to see it. We haven’t actually seen the Cradle except through her eyes, so I could be wrong. But Freya gives me major “something is wrong here” vibes. Still, this podcast always manages to surprise me. Who knows what’ll happen!!
you- you’re so tall!
(aka one of the best and gayest moments of the comic)

Written for the Multifandom Poetry Fest (please stop by and leave some prompts, fills, and/or comments!), for @vefanyar‘s prompt: Stand Still, Stay Silent - Sigrun/Tuuri - take you home
The same waves that pulled you below to the whale’s-land Rolled you like a lover and tossed you back empty Drive our ship homewards along the broad sail-road To mountains and mead-halls and furs--cold and empty The same stars that led you along the dark bird’s-road To home everlasting beneath freezing waters Guide our ship onwards away from your grave-heap Where smoke rises upwards, dreams scattered too early And if I’m no mouse-heart, to flee from a challenge I’ll follow the low road wherever it leads me And brave any dangers to find your bright bird-soul And lay down beside you, or carry you home
