Ethel Clayton's screen debut came in 1909, in a short called Justified. She jockeyed her early film appearances with a burgeoning stage career. Her pretty brunette looks were reminiscent of the famous Gibson Girl drawings by Charles Dana Gibson. On the stage she appeared mainly in musicals or musical reviews such as The Ziegfeld Follies of 1911. These musical appearances indicate a singing talent Clayton may have possessed but went unused in her many silent screen performances.
The funny things you find in 2nd hand books
I bought this book the other day. It’s a lovely old book filled with pictures of the silent movie stars.
But leafing through when I got home I found something lying on this page of Gloria Swanson.
Is a child's drawing of mickey mouse. Clearly traced from an original using a blue biro and colored using a number of different pencils
It’s also strangely folded.
I am not sure if this is for artistic purposes or so it fits in the book which would be keeping it flat for the next twenty plus years. If you are the artist of this picture please get in touch with me
Your work day presented by Louise Brooks.
