tbh the more i think about it, the less i like that silco knew jinx’s mother.
it reduces the impact of the end of s1e3. silco sees this sobbing, broken child who's been (apparently) abandoned by her sister, who's entirely unrelated to him or his concerns, and adopts her because of a snap connection between them. the very first sign we see from him of sympathy and empathy, of humanity.
to me that feels much more profound than him adopting her because....... years ago he was close to her mother or something. sure, his sympathy for powder/jinx’s plight is still a factor, but imo that's cheapened by his connection to her mother. without s2, he's adopting jinx because of jinx, not because of her mom. he's connected to jinx personally, with no other influences or history between them.
also you’d think he would’ve mentioned being pretty close to her mother in the seven years they spent together ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
