If I may critique your art- it seems that you draw torso up a lot which really bothers me because there is no motion or emotion in your art which makes it kinda boring to look at- and most of your characters are facing to the left which makes it repetitive . I do like the way you draw your faces since some are rounder/sharper than others which adds SOME dynamic to the piece. Also, if you do shade with black I recommend you don't since it can make the piece dull.

I appreciate this critique, yo. And yes, it’s true, I need to work on a lot when it comes to drawin more full-body work. I still need to work on anatomy, cus when I try to draw anythin below the waist/torso, it seems to fall apart. And yeah, I’ve noticed that as well in my art. I think that I tend to draw people facin the left. I think it’s due to it feelin natural, and is probably somethin I should break out of. I do appreciate that compliment, tho. I’ve tried very hard to stay away from “same face syndrome”, and i’m glad to see that it’s at least sort of workin out. ^u^

As for shadin, what I tend to do is take the color I’m usin for whatever I’m shadin, and make it a bit darker. That way it seems more like natural shadin, and not simply black. ^^All in all, thank you very much for this ask. I really appreciate any critique I’m given. It’s good to help an artist grow and change. i’ll make sure to take what you said to heart next time I go to draw ^u^

I've never actually taken any classes, but I do read a lot of comics and books about comics! I recommend Understanding Comics and Making Comics by Scott McCloud, Drawing Words And Writing Pictures by Jessica Abel and Matt Madden, and Will Eisner's instructional trilogy!

Underrift really started as a bunch of theories - my own and others’ - and my own perceptions all getting merged and remixed in my head until An Idea popped out. But then... that’s how it works for me most of the time!

As for inspiration, for different things it comes from different places but for Underrift? The biggest inspiration is you guys! Every like, reblog, comment, follow. Every time someone takes time out of their day to inspect and translate the background wingdings. Every message - I don't answer all of them, especially anons since I try to keep the blog as centered on the comic as possible, but I do read all of them. Every visit to a stream or my Patreon page. It's true I get some negative messages - but you guys MORE than outweigh those, and you're all the best!
