Your art is so stinkin adorable 💞😭 What are some of your Sunburst duo and Wasabi duo headcanons?
hmm i’ll go with wasabi duo first because i’m a little less insane about them, but I think they have like a frenemies thing going on.
I like to imagine they like listening to music together. Wukong has pretty… strange music taste, but loves getting music recommendations from Mei. Mei makes him playlists and they listen to them together on the rare occasion they get to hang out.
I think they never get to actually plan doing things together. they just always end up in situations with the other. sometimes they’re setups from MK, sometimes they're just setups from the universe itself. but they never get to actually hang out on purpose.
they bicker a lot but both like taking shit with eachother. they're ruthless and enjoy gossip. I think it’d be silly if Wukong would not take anyone insulting Mei, but Mei finds it funny when people shit-talk Wukong.
Mei has zero tolerance for Wukongs bullshit, especially when it’s something involving MK, and Wukong appreciates this.
I think they enjoy each other's company a LOT but reuse to admit that, even to themselves.
for sunburst duo, god GOD. okay so after both s3 and s4, I think MK would be like extremely physically and emotionally clingy towards Wukong for a little bit. but like, not in as noticeable of a way. instead of him clinging on to him, I think he’d just like be visibly less tense when Wukong is in view. he gets nervous when Wukong is late or he can’t find him. after s4 when he’s around him in his monkey from, his tail will just unconsciously grab onto him and MK is embarrassed about it every time he notices. for the first week after both seasons, MK wanted to stay on the mountain with him for a bit, just to reassure himself that he’s there. MK doesn’t let himself ask after s3, but after s4 MK actually gets to do it.
sometimes Wukong gets such intense cute aggression from MK just being MK, that he has to resist the urge to just throw him halfway across the mountain. (he fails resisting it half the time.) whenever he does do that, MK just sees it as a game and does not mind in the slightest. he did get pretty confused the first time it happened though.
I think they come up with silly little games during training that they still do when they're just hanging out casually, even with other people there. Mei will pick up on it sometimes and try to play along. It's all simple stuff like Wukong hiding something and MK having to find it, miscellaneous things to help MK’s focus, silly cool-down games, just that general kind of thing.
MK is VERY physically affectionate, and i'm fairly sure Wukong was as well when he was younger, so I like to think that eventually, when they finally get like fully comfortable with each other, those two are SO physically affectionate with each other. like MK clinging on to him any chance that he gets and Wukong always wrapping an arm, a tail, a hand around him when they’re near. they cuddle. they fall asleep on top of eachother. they both like the physical evidence that the other is safe and okay and with them.
this is less of a headcanon and more of something I know is true in my soul, but MK definitely used to draw himself and Wukong together when he was younger. like them fighting together and hanging out and maybe even Wukong giving him reassurance. he’s a little embarrassed about the drawings now, but Wukong thinks they're adorable.
I think they'd also have little drawing sessions together. like hanging out after training to relax and draw. MK draws little doodles for Wukong constantly and Wukong will sometimes make some pretty stunning works of art for MK.
