Hey!- new prisoner? Well- I PERSONALLY don’t know- but- if you really wanna know I’m sure I can ask my boss- he’s cool- well- at least from what I’ve seen.

(He said hi- and that new prisoners are brought in by jailbot- I asked if it was legal and he just- pretended not to hear me???? like ok- whatever- I’m just a janitor 😂)

I'm on "vacation" and my direct manager texted me tonight to let me know she was stepping down from her position due to personal reasons and that I should apply for the unit manager position.

I've been in insurance for less than two years. My managers have so much confidence in me it freaks me out sometimes. I dont feel I have the experience to adequately tackle the intricacies of the role. Can I manage people and lead a team? Heck yeah. Can I de-escalate even the most sensitive situations? You bet. Could I handle a complex situation in which my attained knowledge is utilized? Probably but this is where I doubt myself. A lot of it is second nature but I still have stupid questions or forget mundane things.

I know it was just a suggestion and the job isn't mine but I often wonder what it is other people see in me that I clearly don't see in myself. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. The only time a company/management team didn't see my value was that godawful homecare company I worked for. They had their sights set on a pathological liar who claimed to be an RN in her home country but once asked me why calcium was important...

Anyways, I'm going to miss my manager terribly but I do understand her situation. She let it slip a few months ago when we had a one on one tele-meeting and I've often wondered how she's managed to cope. I always wanted to reach out but i didn't know if it would be crossing the line. At least now I can let her know she has an ear and a socially distanced hug if she needs one.
