omgggg the kaifeng furnace quest was so good cinematically
plotwise i think they could've taken the time to clarify a few things because even with some backreading and digging into profiles i was still a bit lost at times...that seems to be a hallmark of chinese game storytelling, they've got so much to say that sometimes they show without telling and you NEED the telling again esp. if you've been off doing sidequests for a week (i forgot who yuanbao was! ahh)
but the emotional bits were definitely well-directed, albeit with a tiny bit of logic gap you need to ignore to make it make sense like (spoilers below)
did they really take all that time to dress YY back up in the ember of easy getup for that one interrogation/dialogue scene near the finale because that's super extra if so
granny turtle's story was good but pacing was a little bit off, because she forgets and remembers and remembers what she forgets all in the course of 40 min, which makes sense for a longer story but feels a teeny bit rushed in the context of the main quest
i DID love how they subverted "oh look it's ruby 2.0" with little fu being ALSO little lu and little shou and knowing enough badass martial arts moves that you're reassured they won't end up like ruby did, or at least not without a fight
all that aside im very impressed with how well optimized the game was for mobile even for the rogue/stealth missions and my limited screen space, the quest markers were close and obvious enough that i could follow from one to the rest without getting lost
only place i got "stuck" was when we were escaping the furnace and my character landed on the side of the main pillar; i thought it was a glitch and we were stuck cause nothing was happening, but you were actually supposed to just press the forward button to wallstride up. that was the only unintuitive part; once i got the message the first time, the whole running up chains and walls and sides of structures came much more naturally
anyways!! it was a great quest
putting main quest on hold so i can catch up with some of the side story chapters b/c i think some of them take place chronologically before main quest's changes with the song/tang coins
just unlocked the leaves thingie so that'll keep me busy, to say nothing of the disguise mini-missions and the random encounters and the endless hunt for oddities
also i finally unlocked the perk where it shows u nearby treasure maps on the mini maps. while helpful i actually find it more distracting cause instead of paying attention to the world i'm now staring at my mini-map to make sure i don't miss a chest b/c im obsessive like that; i think i preferred exploring and finding chests organically, so i'll see if i can just ignore it lololol...
last but not least i KNOW there's a latrine subquest somewhere but haven't unlocked it yet. i am surprised they take the time to acknowledge u poop tho like LOL
