[SPOILERS FOR DEMACIA RISING PROLOGUE-CHAPTER 2]
welp, back in college, what a wonderful time for Riot to drop the Demacia season to send me into a catagory 9 autism event
Ive seen plenty of people who are confused about the new metagame and timeline of the current lore, myself included. I actually feel that modern events coincide with some old lore pieces which I think we might be experiencing currently or later on this year
Lux moves to the great city of Demacia:
Demacia Rising takes place at the same time as the Salvation cinematic, indicated by mention of Xin Zhao's death. Lux in this minigame is depicted to be a child of around 14-16 years old, meaning as events stand, Lux is currently a child.
In her Biography, Lux moves to the Great City of Demacia at age 16 to live in the Crownguard formal residence. Demacia Rising fits very well into a narrative that Lux has just moved residency to study how to be a soldier or tactician with her Aunt Tianna, who we can assume was not living in High Silvermere before this, Garen is also stated to become captain of the Vanguard at this time which may cause Tianna to put pressure on Lux to follow in his footsteps.
Lux is introduced to the Illuminators/"Auntie I don't want to kill" Arc:
At some point after arriving in the Great City, Lux undergoes martial training with Kahina Buvelle, Sona's adoptive sister, which given that we've already seen Sona this season may be featured in upcoming lore.
The Buvelle family are known supporters of the Illuminators, which Lux as we see as an adult is a member of. Given that much of the dialogue between Tianna and Lux in Demacia Rising is Lux not wanting to fight people, we could be setting up for a story arc in which Lux chooses peace in the form of becoming an Illuminator, which may royally piss off Auntie Tianna.
Cithria's arrival in the Great City:
This is, um, purely speculative. But im still holding out for Cithria to be that new champion, because the box given out to content creators mentions something about a soldier of extraordinary merit being accepted into the Vanguard Silverwing Riders, and given that all of Cithria's visual storytelling in her LOR cards are about her growing up from trainee to squire to full-on Silverwing rider I believe this is referring to her.
In the letter addressed to Cithria that was included inside of the Tellstones: Kings Gambit set (Somehow I cant find a text version of the letter on the wikipedia, but trust me, I have it, yes I am a proud owner of official league of legends board game), her father discusses how he's sorry for getting mad at her, and that he only wants to protect her in these uncertain times.
It is EXTREMELY unlikely that these uncertain times are referring to the mage rebellion, so what is he talking about? I believe it is related to the Salvation cinematic, in which darkness is shown to envelope a whole village until Sona had to step in, and when Vanguard trainees were killed by Noxian assassins. The idea that Cithria wanting to leave to become a soldier coincided with recent news of the murder of multiple trainees is very good reason for her father to get extremely defensive over her moving away.
In dialogue between the Cithria: Lady of Clouds and Lux LOR cards, they appear to know eachother and helped eachother out. Two characters who arrive at the city at an age where they are expected to find their destinies is a compelling way to set up a friendship and a narrative, especially since one wants to be a soldier and the other does not. This can only occur if we were to believe that Lux and Cithria arrive at the Great City at the same time.
Setting up for a timeskip?
This is also speculative
I doubt and kinda hope they dont keep "oh Lux is canonically 16 now" for very long, because that essentially writes Lux out of being featured in many lore events outside of her growing up, as in all of her appearences in lore events and in summoners she is an adult. It is also just a really odd choice to de-age a character from being a cannonical adult into being a child.
The Dev update mentions something about a "dark side" of Demacia, which myself and others immediately turn to the Mage Rebellion being part of this. However, this could also be the events of another story, conveniantly called For Demacia (same name as the current season!), in which the village of Fossbarrow is being tormented by Nocturne, a demon of darkness. In Salvation, the village shown to be attacked by the darkness is not named, but is more than likely Fossbarrow, seeing as these hauntings have been occuring for quite a while after a young child accidentally unsealed Nocturne. In the story. Residents of Fossbarrow believe in "the Veiled One," further hinting at this being the same village in salvation. The story also contains mentions of Jarven 4 and his "mysterious companion" (Shyvanna), which further implies that this story may be important later on this season, but thats also just a small speculation.
Lux is stated to visit Fossbarrow a few years before the events of the story with her family, which may have been when she first arrived in the Great City. She returns later as an illuminator, wherein she has decided not to be a soldier and is now an adult.
Other than that, I just think it is narratively interesting to show an important lore character develop over the season, and I hope that is the direction Riot is taking. I also believe a timeskip is a good way of writing Cithria into the Demacia cannon, in which we see her develop and grow in time in the same way we see in the LOR cards.
I may have missed allot of things, im not going to pretend to be a lore expert, but thats ok because I dont think Riot's writters are either with how many retcons and inconsistencies have existed. If there is anything ive missed, sorgy, there is only so much content I have consumed in my less-than-a-year old hyperfixation on league lore, for example I am procrastinating on Mageseeker and haven't finished the game yet, and I haven't read First Shield or Weight of Expectation outside of plot summaries due to a lack of access to the full story on the Wikipedia. I also mostly skimmed the For Demacia story, but know the most important parts of it, and will read it once I actually feel motivated to read stuff again. Feel free to discuss below even though I cannot promise I will respond due to my own personal reasons involving anxiety around strangers on the internet, dont let that stop you though im interested seeing peoples different ideas for future lore events in the season.
the car is tired and hungry shes going to get food now byye. .,
[EDIT]: I forgot to mention that this whole season is pre-mage rebellion, and therefore a semi-flashback to "recent demacian history." that being said, this is still post Arcane and post return of Zaahen.
a perfectly average secret level featuring a skull maze? WRONG. Slenderman.
