The Silt River Megaregion (SRM) is a group of metropolitan areas clustered around the Siltwater River Delta, the eastern coastline of the Sea of Synthiki, and a substantial inland region. It includes the metropolises of Siltwater, Stormkeep, Siobhan, Ronan, New Dyptich, and Wisdom. These cities are roughly continuous, as no region between them falls below a density of 500 individuals per square kilometer. The megaregion has a population of approximately 50 million people, and has the largest economic output of any megaregion on the planet. The megaregion's largest constituent is Siltwater, with a population of 22 million as of 2021.

Con-cops, also known as contracted cops or private law enforcement officers (PLEOs), are individuals that take or have taken a contract from the ACE Justice, Unity and Safety Team to address criminal activity. Their responsibilities usually include defending corporate assets, neutralising violent criminals, performing arrests, and engaging in pro-social peacekeeping activities. PLEO-like organisations and individuals exist in every society across Veridae, but they are only state-sanctioned in Twofold.

The largest PLEO organisations include the Stingers, the South Siltwater Security Services (4S), the Ex-Fed Community Watch, the Old Paladin's Order, Constability LLC., and the Old Church of Synthiki. They are highly regional, and are subject to constant sabotage from each other and ACE itself.

ACE Burgers is a fast food franchise owned by the A.C.E. conglomerate. It is known for its faux-meat products ("Mush"), its affordable prices, and the absence of single-patty burgers.

GABAlchemy is a 21st century revival of premodern alchemical practice, with a focus on quantitative methods, informed by modern neuroscience. As the name suggests, it is built upon addiction sciendce via the exploitation neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid, which is responsible for slowing nerve activity.

Earanine is a GABAergic molecule, causing sedation, relaxation and euphoria in consumers. It is typically consumed dissolved in sugar water, which is itself usually aerosolised. This creates a now-iconic pink 'smoke', earning it the slang name 'pink'. Earanine's sugary solvent also gives its consumers sweet smelling breath, termed "bubblegum breath". A standard dose is approximately 200 µg, producing a high that lasts 20-30 minutes.

Antanine is a GABA antagonist, and causes hyperactivity in consumers. It is also a potent nootropic and mild psychedelic. It is typically consumed as a solid salt, either intranasally, sublingually, or ingested with food. In large doses, it is capable of undoing overdoses of other GABAergic drugs, such as Earanine itself. A standard dose is 0.4 g.

Rage-2 is a GABA antagonist. It causes hyperactivity, mood swings, and psychosis. It nearly universally results in emotional meltdowns followed by violence. It is effective at curing withdrawal symptoms for most known addictive substances. The mechanism for this is unknown, save for the fact that it is active even at sub-microgram doses. A standard dose is 30 µg, typically taken intravenously.

A burg is a type of municipal subdivision used in Twofold, especially in Siltwater. Siltawter is divided into four Burgs. A subburg is a subdivision of a burg. A burger is an individual from a particular burg. It is also a type of sandwich.

Twain is a burg that encompasses the central island of the Siltwater Delta, which itself has been reduced to two large outflows on either side of the island. It is the home to Uptown, Midtown, and Downtown, the Silver Spire, and its predecessor, the Old Temple. It is enormously densely populated, and is highly heterogenous owing to its long-term significance and economic appeal.

Knox is the burg that encompasses everything to the south of Siltwater River. It is a medium-high density Burg, dominated by five-story twentieth-century Siltblock apartment buildings. Its largest and most populous suburg is Southbank, which contains several famous shopping centres, and large avenues famously flanked by tall buildings that are near-totally eclipsed by advertisements hanging from their sides.

Bishops is the northerly burg of Siltwater, and technically begins halfway through the breadth of the northern and primary branches of the Siltwater River. Its most familiar region is its southwestern coastal corner: wealthy, older families who made their money in the Big Time moved their assets and relatives to Bishop, where they live in seaside mansions and drive expensive cars. North of this is endless Suburgia, smeared thinner and thinner towards the Gidrakonian mountains until they are tiny towns straddling a vast, horizon-to-horizon grid of motorways rising up the steppe.

Landings is the far-southerly burg of Siltwater, beyond Knox. It is dominated by corporate microagricultural greenhouses, which glow fluorescent white even in daylight, and broad highways and heavy industrial railways. Landings technically extends to the poor and mountainous regions further south of this, but few city-dwellers ever venture there. Nonetheless, it is these 'southlanders' that make up the primary workforce of Siltwater's rail and agriculture business.

Alotter or Olotl is the far-eastern burg of Siltwater, dominated by suburgan duplexes, and a large number of modestly sized urban centers, forming what look like distant and isolated mountains looming over a sea of small apartment blocks. It is deceptively large and populous, and is by far where most Siltsiders live. It is full of middle class families who drink and watch sports, and have a very low opinion of Twain financiers. Every year, there is 'heatstroke epidemic' due to urban heat islands and climate change.

Fishweek is a small suburb in Siltwater. It causes much confusion in tourists, who often hear of infamous activities and visits to 'fish week', a non-existent event which hypothetically revolves around fish and other marine animals. Locally, Fishweek is known for pornography and fireworks.

Theresa Abernathy Rosenthal-Davenport (1765 - 1851) was a Gidrakonian economist and Master of the Treasury of the Kingdom of Gidrakon in the late 18th and early 19th century. She is most known for her privatisation of royal assets, cutting down of public services and taxes, and her permissive approach to investment and the accumulation of wealth. She believed that private interests operating in autonomously would generate wealth and allocate it as efficiently as possible: she termed this Autonomism, after eponymous autonomous actors. Her economic strategy is considered the primary force behind Siltwater's explosion in size and wealth throughout the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.

Autonomism is an economic model by which private entities own the means of production, and have ultimate discretion to use surplus value of labourers how they wish; particularly, to expand their business and accumulate more capital. More poetically, the 'invisible hand' of the market is purported to allocate resources in the most efficient and productive manner possible, according to the principles of supply and demand. This invisible hand ought not be obstructed by regulation of any kind.
