Fawn, sometimes called Topaz, is a very bright Agouti dilute. An Agouti rat with a double recessive Red [Ruby-Eyed] gene expression. It should have a base of bright gold, with bands of progressively darker orange up the hair shaft and on the guard hairs, mixed with silver. The undercoat and underbelly will be a paler gold-silver shade. Ideally, the color will have a bright "pumpkin" color to it, but shimmery. Because this is a red-based dilute, the eyes will be dark ruby, and darker rather than lighter is the preference in most standards.
Silver Fawn is an Agouti rat with a double dilute of the Pink-Eyed gene. A light, more golden version of Fawn, without the rich orange tones. It should be a light, creamy undercoat with golden ticking throughout and no grey cast to it. The eyes should be pink.
