on a completely different topic: I just think you're the fucking coolest. I was definitely a little put off at first by how intimidating you are, but I persevered because the dreams you post about kind of talk to a place within me where I'm like "yeah, even if we never have an official metor/mentee relationship, Keri clearly has something important to teach me," so yeah, just thanks for putting your shit out there and helping us bby witches, it is SO APPRECIATED, thank you <333
*grump* The only thing I can teach anyone with confidence is how to interweave the word "fuck" into conversation so smoothly, you'll instruct a priest how to defile all his oaths and he'll think himself under the guidance of angels. *harrumph*
I think my way of teaching is showing you what not to do. For instance, don't run up an entity capable of turning your bones inside out and sucker punch them right off. Introduce yourself first, so after you have been unmade, they remake you because they can't get your name off their lips as they go mouthing off about what just happened and you wind up being made stronger and better than you were before you clocked their ass. Yea. Law of Unintended Consequences and such. Don't do that.
Don't settle for mediocre. Not gaining expertise in a subject is not being mediocre in that subject. Mediocre is doing just enough for government work to say that you did it, but not the best (or even the good) of what you are capable of at the time. You can be a master at a skill and be mediocre because you just don't give a shit about the outcome anymore. If you're going to do something, do it. If you have a chance to better your skill at a reasonable cost, then improve it. If you can't get better than where you are now, that's okay, too. Do what you can at the level that you can. Don't settle for "okay" when you have the chance to do "good".
Inspect yourself. We all have flaws. Don't allow the perception of those flaws to overwhelm who you really are. Talk to a trusted friend (or three) and listen to them when they say you're not seeing things right. I'm quick to anger. If certain friends see me winding up and tell me that my anger is unjustified, then no matter how much I think I want that anger, I back down. Because I trust them to see when I can not.
Own up to your mistakes. Make amends if you can. Make penance if you can't. If the person you wronged doesn't want to even acknowledge your existence until after the cold death of the universe, then depart. Sometimes the right thing is to leave it broken.
Don't be a dick. (I want to say, don't be a dick, without cause, because sometimes you have to go there to make the hurting stop.)
Your story. You live it. Don't like the supporting characters? Change them. Drop bad influences and false friends. Develop good connections with people that don't leech off you, financially, spiritually, or emotionally. Don't like how your main character is turning out? Write yourself into changing yourself. We all start with characteristics that were chosen and developed without our input. But at a certain point, we take control over ourselves and our decisions, and we can remake who we are. It takes time, attention, expletives, and a lot of falling down. But that is how characters develop regardless of the venue.
Find something uniquely you. Something that you can enjoy without contraptions, an internet connection, or the company of others. Treasure those moments. Memorize them as best as you can. So when you're in the middle of some shit and you wonder why you are continuing to drag yourself through this shitstain of a existance, you can remember back to those moments that no one and no thing will ever be able to take away from you. Then smile like a motherfucker, and continue on while those around you wonder where the hell you just got your second wind from.
Give your word as little as possible. Hoard your oaths tighter than baby unicorn teeth. If you must give your word, then do so with full awareness. Don't break oaths. Don't make your name(s) worthless by swearing what you can not give. Don't make a promise to do something and try to prevent that something from coming about. Eventually someone is going to get tired of your shit and take care of the matter to your painful detriment.
If you have gods, be true to them. Don't be a sunshine worshipper. Own up to the uncomfortable parts of their lore, and don't just accept modern versions that smooth over hideous actions. Words and definitions change over time. Find out what they were to the peoples of antiquity. Don't assume that they have lost their power or their influence because the tools we humans use have changed so drastically. No amount of hypersexualization of her image is going to make Hecate any nicer or safer to deal with, I assure you.
If you don't have gods, don't mock those who do. Be courteous and respectful to everyone you meet. Sometimes that means walking away to the sound of bullshit derisions being thrown at your back. Your personal integrity is more important than winning an internet argument. But don't be a doormat, either. You are not responsible for other people's self-image. You take care of you.
Respect boundaries. Especially those that don't make any damn sense to you. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. No means no, yes means yes, and maybe means you shouldn't until you get a clearer answer.
Keep a diary. Bitch in it often so you work out that frustration. Read what you have written/typed/recorded regularly. You'll see how far you have come, what troubles you won't admit to, and a lot of dramas really weren't important in the long run.
Set personal goals for yourself. Don't tell anyone what they are. You're running your race for yourself, not for others to claim influence over. If you give someone your trophy it should be because you want them to have it, not because they feel entitled to it.
And whatever you do, don't believe me. *smile* Don't just take my word for it blindly, or anyone else's for that matter. Investigate for yourself. Test and inspect. Make yourself the authority in your life.
Start where you are.
Begin.

You can tell me however much or however little you want!
7 of Pentacles R: Don't give up the search yet! You may have missed an opportunity somewhere along the way! Usually this card shows that this issue has gotten to a point where it seems rather hopeless but I don't feel that here at all. Trace your footsteps and look for signs along the way
