A Man Like Any Other, 2, 5, 14!
Thank you so much for the ask! <3
2. What scene did you first put down?
Honestly, the very first scene! I don’t plan very extensively, and I tend to write character-based fics more than plot-based. I have a general idea of where I want the fic to go, but the characters drive it and often surprise me! I very occasionally write ahead if I’m compelled to write a particular scene, but the conversations and actions in the ‘past’, once I write them, usually make it very tricky to add that scene to the fic without heavy and irritating modifications. It saves a lot of headaches if I just write in a linear fashion!
5. What part was hardest to write?
The part where Tae’thelan bangs Rommath on the altar, after he actually penetrates him. I was losing my mojo at that point, wondering whether it was working, whether the writing was getting stale. It was feeling very procedural, and I lost my confidence for a while. It was actually a talk with you that broke me out of that, so thank you!
14. Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
The themes in this fic are completely unsubtle, lol. The overarching thing I wanted readers to learn is that Rommath is not a villain, even though he’s committed some truly questionable acts. That he’s a man like any other, one might say. ;> I also wanted readers to learn that The Good Ship Taemmath is full of snark and chemistry, competitive respect, and really enthusiastic sex. I like to think that I achieved this, but honestly this whole paragraph feels like I’m bullshitting an English Lit essay because the themes are lit up already with neon signs. XD
