I'm from the northeast US, so moving to london was nothing to me weather wise, but if you're coming from a warmer climate I would invest [...] a warm coat. depends on what part of the winter though, but i would layer especially if you want to be in scotland
Thanks! How warm would you consider "warm" though? I have a wool blend coat (60% wool, 40% viscose) that's more than snuggly for winters in Melbourne, so long as I wear the right undergarments and it doesn't go too far below 5°C or so. (It rarely gets that cold here though so testing is a bit limited)
Also, would you suggest getting a light weather/waterproof coat to wear over the top? I've heard a lot about how Paris is drizzly that time of year but I'm not sure whether it's very fashion to wear a coat over a coat.

Oh bby I should have totally thought to ask you! What do you think? Buy a big coat (that I'm not likely to get too much use out of after we come home) or ?
