"The ocean doesn't welcome anybody with comfy things. Like couches or blankets or soft pillows. Just a wild, constant roar. So much space Eliza thinks...and I love it." I could relate to this wonderful character created by author @natabitz . Seeing this towering historic home in #Carmel was perfect while listening to #Silverswift on Audible. I was walking by the seashore with fog curling all around the peninsula except this single cove with white sands, gnarled trees, and the perfect rocks jutting out into the sea for a mermaid to appear. I kept a lookout but, alas, the only one I saw was in my dreams. . It was #yalit with so much torturous angst between the world of mermaids and main characters' search to help her grandmother have one last special memory. There's a compelling scene I picture much like this home #Torhouse which once belonged to poet Robinson Jeffers. The view sweeps wide on the bay in dazzling blue waters (see my story :) when the fog lifts in the sunshine. . This novel hit deeper place inside me I'm still figuring out, with the importance of family, belief in the impossible, and overcoming obstacles. Here's more: The wind is always looking for a story to tell.... On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor. #bookstagram #yalovin #booknerd #booknerdigans #bookstagrammer #bookish #booklover #amreading #totalbooknerd #bookpile #kidlit (at Carmel - by - the - Sea) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCjQTb5AMgx/?igshid=akizfv66djc7
