I was watching the Star Trek TOS episode "Elaan of Troyius" last night (it's not a great episode, but it has some 'so bad it's entertaining' bits) and one character, Ambassador Petri, looks so much like Johnny it's absurd
Yes, I see it. :)
The green skin is very TS2 aliens, and the hair of course. It's like Johnny once he's older and more established in the politics of the alien colony in SHWC. He'll either keep ties to the plot of the series or eventually become part of the Star Trek universe, haha.
The thing I love most about #becomingmrsblackburn2 is regardless of who ends up becoming Quinton’s bride. They now have a backstory and an established storyline. When I did the cast change from Bailey Kay to Paris, I was a simply trying to replace Bailey with Paris like the two Aunt Vivs from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. However, it always felt forced because even though it was supposed to be same love story just different sims everyone was used to Q and B even though they existed in another simiverse and timeline. Now we have a developed storyline, and I can definitely imagine him with any of the remaining contestants.
I am blown away how much of asshole Silas turned out to be.
I like to have my sims have more freedom to do what they please.
This allows more sims interactions to happen and most things that happen in my game are not terribly scripted.
I'll turn certain interactions they choose to have into a story post y'know. For example, if a neighbor does a visit ill turn it into an afternoon tea scene.
Silas is my Heir and he is the most narcissistic and selfish sim oml.
He treats everyone he is not friends with like garbage SADFADSG
He is so unlikeable and at this point I've given up on saving him LOL
I fear people might be like wow why is he such an asshole and I gotta tell yall I did not plan it. Silas chose to dislike farming and love mean interactions.
I guess I am publicly announcing along with my recent uploads that I am no longer doing meshes with sexy feet. I still like the marvine feet, but it needs special skins, but there’s too many inconsistencies in feet on my part so I’m just breaking down and rejoining the block feet crowd.
It's super abstract I know but are there any valuable lessons you've learned the hard way about storytelling in the Sims? Any tips on managing sims, hoods, posing and stuff like that? It just seems laborious at times
[looks at the games on fire beside me]
Well, having back ups of everything: every sim, every lot, every neighborhood labeled correctly in easily to find places will make everything a lot easier when you have problems.
Pro tip: Being organized goes a long way.
I suggest playing in windowed mode if you are going to pose because then you can access a "cheat sheet" folder full of pictures of all the poses you have.
Don't be like me though. Name each picture the posebox name and by creator. Makes it easier to navigate. And delete when you don't need that posebox/pack anymore. (What's that? I don't know. Something non-CC hoarders do.)
Same with cheat codes for TS4. Make yourself a notepad file.
That way you can CTRL+C to CTRL+V in the cheat menu. You could do the same for TS2 I suppose, but there's the userstartup.cheat file that you can edit...although personally it's never worked for me so I just type them old cheats in because they are burned into my memory.
I don't really have a hard time managing sims? Or I don't really know what you mean. But I'm used to having neighborhoods filled to the brim with sims and playing and posing like 70 sims on a lot in TS2. TS4 is a whole different ball game as far as posing since you cannot have more than 8 in a household and you cannot pick up sims so deco sims are needed to fill spaces. Having deco sims in TS2 for clubs and other public spaces is helpful too, but there aren't that many "regular" deco sims out there (for now).
In TS2, you can put sims on OMSPs and pose them and they will stay on the OMSPs. You can also use the freezer clock to freeze them in animation so they don't move. With that freezer clock you can also freeze time, which is the most helpful tool ever.
In TS4, things are different because you cannot pick up sims so you have to premptatively decide where all the sims need to be posed with the Teleporter and Pose Player. There's a lot of trial and error. But the T.O.O.L. mod does make everything so much easier as far as rotating and moving sims.
But those things aside, if you want to write a story, then you need to invest in plain prose writing techniques, like making a synopsis for the premise of the story and then an outline (or bulletpoint scenes) per chapter/episode. Also invest in learning how you as a writer operate. Are you a complete outliner or do you prefer pantsing?
But number one golden rule, don't be hard on yourself. If making a story, no matter sims or not, isn't fun then what is the point? Always make something you want to read because you're going to have to read it a thousand times. Don't worry about likes and things like that. It's not important. It's only important you tell the story you want to tell.
