Some months pass. Mia saves a good amount of money, mostly because Aunt Laurel refuses to let her spend anything. Life at the ranch feels almost healing.

Things with her “special person” stay light at first, but the simplicity starts to crack when they suggest a proper date at their house, shifting the tone into something more serious.

The date begins well. Easy, familiar… until it turns into conversations about the future. Mia brushes it off in the moment and treats it like harmless talk, not a real expectation.

Then the games begin: days later, they casually mention seeing someone else to try to make Mia jealous, but Mia’s fine with it.

A night out with Clara follows. Mia drinks, flirts, laughs again, and briefly feels like herself, like things are uncomplicated.

Then everything collapses at once when her partner walks in and sees someone else kissing her neck.

They confess they were planning to propose, and they wanted a life with her, something real.

Mia ends it on the spot.

The breakup makes staying at the ranch unbearable, so after nearly a year, Mia decides to leave.

Back in the city and her room, she's immediately drawn to the memory of her ex-fiancée. Almost like it's destiny, her mother says someone is calling and looking for her.
